Chapter 28:

(Harry's POV)

"So, who brought you back from the dead?" Simon asked, standing away.

"What?" I asked. She looked down away from him nervously, and he approached us.

"Come on Gabrielle. I don't have all day." He said.

"Gabrielle? What's he talking about?" I asked, looking between her and Simon. Simon's face looked expressionless, whilst her face spoke a thousand words. Guilty. Scared.

"This isn't your precious Ellie. This is her doppelgänger. You knew her decades ago as Niall's love interest until the wolves killed her." He answered, walking behind her, uncrossing his arms. My heart snapped with a sudden jolt. I felt relief I knowing something wasn't right. I knew I didn't feel the same way as I did yesterday when I saw her, the connection missing.

"But if she was dead?" I asked trying to work it out in my head.

"The other side." She answered looking up directly through me.

"Ophelia?" Simon asked looking towards the wall thinking.

"How do you know who she-" she said in panic turning to face him. He suddenly put his hands on the shoulders from behind making her freeze facing me.

"-she's an old friend." He interrupted.

"I need you to do me a favour. A small one. It shouldn't be too much trouble really." He said moving her hair to one shoulder, keeping his other hand on her shoulder. Her body stiffened clearly in fear as I watched. He lent down and whispered in her ear.

"I'm coming for her." He whispered softly before biting holding on her shoulders, digging his teeth deep into her neck. He pulled away once he was done and threw her body onto the floor. I stood in reacting to what I watched.

"What the hell? Why did you do that?" I asked as he wiped the blood from his lips with his finger and licked them.

"I'm getting very tired of this 'forgetful' Harry now." Simon said walking around the table towards me.

"I'm not forgetful. It was the witches. They cast this curse on me." I explained frustrated.

"The same witches you were sent to kill?" He asked.

"I was?" I asked

"You got your witch's daddy to do your dirty work." He said with such disgust as he took steps around the room.

"I had no part in that. You were trying to kill his family." I answered out of nowhere. I didn't know where that came from, my subconscious taking control.

"And why was that?" Simon asked, looking forward away from me, his voice cut the room sternly.

"I won't let you kill her." I stated.

"Because you love her?" He asked plainly. I stared straight through him. I didn't know where any of this came from but deep down I felt strong in my conviction. I clearly had a relationship with Ellie, loved her even. And for whatever reason those feelings and memories were taken from me. Her family took them from me. And it made me hallow.

"You disappoint me." Simon stated turning to face me when I didn't reply.

"It's a shame really. You are my son. I created you. All of you." He said not breaking eye contact with me as he moved around the room. I stood still watching him, listening to what he was saying.

"But you have let me down. She took you from me. And I will kill her for it." He stated, smiling at the end of his statement.

"You lay a hand on her and I'll-" I said reactively. Within a moment, Simon plunged a knife into my chest, taking me by surprise as he held my shoulder to push the blade deeper into my heart. I looked down between the knife and Simon and took a gasp. As I did, flash of light as bright as the sun blinded me and Simon at the point of my chest where Simon had stabbed me as one of the strong headaches began.

"Ellie?" I asked hesitantly. Her figure swung around in surprise with a smile spread among her face as she ran up to me, embracing me tightly as she spoke. I took the first real deep breath since her death.

"Harry." Her voice muttered on my chest. I closed my eyes and held her tighter.

"I love you Harry" She said before I pulled her towards me and kissing her.

"One day you'll be able to tell me that again, in this space right here, possibly even dancing under the stars." I replied.

"You'll do nothing." He spoke quietly to me as I was pulled out of the various memories. I felt the dagger pull at my chest, stinging and pulling me back to reality. I remembered everything. Ellie. Her dad. The guys. What they were trying to tell me all made sense. Everything fell into place. And Simon. He was right. He had created me to kill her and her family and I couldn't do it. I looked down at the punishment of not doing what I was supposed to and looked up at the punisher. The betrayal written over his face as he watched my reaction. My creator killing me slowly.

"You are my greatest achievement and my biggest disappointment. You were created, assigned even to kill out her line. Instead, you fall in love? You have failed me." Simon said, digging the knife deeper into my heart, lifting it so it would create a tare in my heart.

"You left me no choice. I just hope that the others learn from your mistake." He continued as I tried to pull away from him, every second the pain from the knife more agonising than the last.

"I always saw my enemies enemy being my friend but never another enemy." He finished, his voice full of hurt and he pulled the knife out, holding me before letting me go, falling to my knees. He dropped the knife by side and walked out leaving me with nothing silence as I died again.
