Chapter 29:
(Ellie's POV)
Nodding, I looked around at the remains of the apartment block without saying another word as Liam turned and left. I knew that I would need to summon my dad and in a location on my terms. And this was the perfect place. A reminder of his downfall and actions. As soon as he was gone, I picked a piece of the rubble and cut my hand, dropping the blood in a circle.
"sanguine ad sanguinem te voco" I chanted until he appeared in a tornado wind. My father was faced away from me and was ready on the attack, flinging a piece of debris my way with his magic. I managed to block it, making the debris fall to the ground in front of me. He turned, his eyes wild looking around waiting for next attack, smiling as he observed the carnage.
"Have you brought me here to enact revenge?" He asked smiling moving out of the blood circle.
"I've brought you here to stop you from doing something you can't undo." I explained making sure I was opposite him, keeping my guard up.
"Right. You are here to stop me? Okay." He said cockily.
"Don't you see what's happening? This dark magic is taking over you. You need to fight it." I explained. I watched as the stranger I called Dad raised his hand and formed a fireball in his hand and began tossing it between his hands like a ball.
"I don't like the methods I've had to take, I agree. But I've finally got your attention." He said.
"This isn't you." I commented. I could feel something evil overtaking him. It was covered over his aura, sticking to him like a parasite.
"Let me go tell you a story Ellie. I was younger than you when my mother told me. About the thing that lingers in the dark. She didn't tell me that that thing was family. Long lost family. She told me that the darkness in our family wants to come home." He explained looking at me when he mentioned home.
"This is a touching story. Is there a point to this or are we going to fight?" I asked.
"I didn't come here to fight!" He shouted making me jump as he threw the fireball in the ground.
"What can't you both see? The fighting will come if we don't stop this madness and go home." He said calming himself.
"You are the one who started this." I countered.
"I saw your future. He was going to be the death of you. He was person I saw in my vision killing you." He stated. I stopped the circle walk we were doing and looked in his eyes to see if he was telling the truth and I saw no deceit.
"You're wrong." I replied clearly affected by what he said. His visions were never wrong, we both knew that. They were more prophesies, what he saw always came into truth.
"Ask your mother. She saw this too. I'm trying to do what's right and protect my family from itself" He said crossing his arms. Harry would kill me? Why? When? I didn't believe him. I didn't want to believe him.
"Not that he will now." He continued.
"I've reversed the spell." I said countering him. He rolled his eyes at me and smiled.
"That's not what I meant. You see, I made a deal with the devil for your soul. His creator. He didn't like what I had to tell him about your beloved. Not one bit. But as your father I will go to any means to protect you and this family." He explained.
"What did you do?" I asked bitterly. Fear ran through my blood followed by anger.
"He will be dead by the end of the day." He confirmed my worst fears. I snapped and used my magic to hit him back like a wave of wind. He pulled him back and pushed me back. I rolled a little in the debris and slowly got back up. He walked towards me when I knew what I needed to do. I wasn't going to kill him, I wouldn't even fight him. I would stop him. I cast a spell to restraint like a lasso around him and pull him down as I stood up. I used my open cut on my hand to blood tie it, stopping him from undoing it. He started laughing and he struggled against the magic.
"Was he worth it in the end?" He asked on the floor, my magic holding him tightly restraining him.
"Worth what?" I asked not understanding what the cost was.
"Our family. Our people. Everything we've worked so hard to protect." He answered squirming.
"You act as if I chose him over everything. You did all of this and you forced me to choose." I explained.
"And you chose wrong." He said closing his eyes, disappointment written over his face. I held onto the magic tying him and send him to our home for my mum to deal with him. The magic would still restrain him until she released him. I knelt down exhausted from all the magic I was channelling. The more I used, the more it drained me. I stood up ready to leave when I saw Zayn coming into the derelict apartment looking around in shock.
"Ellie?" Zayn asked. All of a sudden, I was stopped in my tracks by a puncture to my heart taking my breath away. I fell to the ground struggling to do anything but feel the pain of death.
Harry
"Ellie. What just happened?" He asked running to my side, panic laced in his voice as he was lifting me up causing me more pain by moving me. I muttered in pain trying to talk to Zayn.
"Harry. Take to me to Harry." I managed to say through a shaken voice. Harry was hurt and this was our connection bond. I wouldn't die from this but he would.
"Somethings wrong." I said as my hands clutched to my chest. He wrapped his arms around me, making me stand as he teleported us to a bar. A man barged past us, leaving when Zayn turned in shock. The bar was quiet and desolate until I saw Harry's body on the floor, keeled over.
"Simon." He muttered as I felt Zayn walked away from me towards the exit following the figure out the door.
"Harry?" I asked, my voice coming out soft and in shock. I threw myself across the room towards him, pure adrenaline making me move. I pulled his body so he was laying on his back, his eyes closing as I collapsed on to my knees.
"Ellie?" He asked as my tears fell into the mix of red and black blood covering us.
"I'm here baby. I'm here." I repeated holding onto his hand, squeezing tightly. I was shaking looking over his body as his hand calmly moved a piece of hair away from my face.
"Why aren't you healing?" I asked moving his shirt to see the wound but he moved my hand to stop me from seeing.
"I remember. I remember you. Us. Everything." He said coughing up blood stopping himself from talking. I took his hands and started whispering chants, bringing his hands to my lips as I spoke onto him.
"Sanguis sanguini sana, Sanguis sanguini da Dolorem suum" I chanted. He continue to cough and squirm as I watched the man I love die in front of my eyes and there was nothing I was doing or could do to stop it.
