Chapter 20:

(Harry's POV)

I woke up from my nightmare as quick as I fell asleep. The pain in my head still ringing even from the dream. What was happening to me? I can't imagine it's a coincidence she was in my dreams.

'I tell you my family hurt you and stripped your memory and you want to be in my future?'

Her voice rang in my ears as smooth as when I heard them. I knew who did this to me but why was the question. What did they not want me to know? And for me to be involved with the witches? Was I crazy?

I tried to get back to sleep but a strong feeling was keeping me awake. A feeling that I shouldn't sleep, that my adrenaline was keeping me up to keep me safe. The pending question of what I was forgetting and why was looming over me keeping me up.

I woke up early the next morning hoping to get a feed in before everyone woke. I wanted to be left alone and decided that whatever I was forgetting was forgotten for a reason. It was probably for my own good and I could uncover something I might not want to find. After hunting, I walked back through the city centre towards the apartment, enjoying watching the crowd grow as the morning did.

It was as the sunlight hit the ground in the distance when I saw the witch Ellie in the distance. Dressed in black leather trousers and plain black t-shirt, she looked completely different. Her hair was straight and autumn red. I decided to follow her into a bar, feeling the pull towards her. I saw her sit herself at a table in the corner when I approached her.

"What do you want?" She asked, her tone sharp and to the point. Her whole demeanour had changed from yesterday. It was clear she didn't want to talk to me and looked physically repulsed by my presence. How could one person be so different? Was this a defensive protective reaction?

"Good morning to you too." I stated sitting opposite from her.

"I don't have time for your games." She replied looking around cautiously in fear.

"No games. I promise." I said.

"Your promise means nothing to me." She stated looking into me with a hollowness. She seemed distracted and defensive. What had I done to her?

"Did I say or do something yesterday to upset you?" I asked watching her reaction.

"Yesterday?" She asked confused.

"Yeah. Have you gotten this amnesia thing to?" I asked watching her fiddle with a napkin, keeping her attention away from me.

"Amnesia huh? Look. I want no trouble. Whatever trick or game you are playing isn't going to work. I'm trying to get out of this town and I don't want any trouble. So If you could be so kind and leave me alone?" She explained standing throwing the napkin back to the table. I grabbed her wrist stopping her from going, feeling nothing but a coldness between our touch. Her eyes looked down at her wrist in fear and looked back towards my gaze.

"Why do you think I'm playing a game? I just want my memory back or peace of mind and I know you're the key." I said letting go of her wrist. Her eyes held mine and the same connection I had yesterday seemed to have vanished. The feeling- gone. Her eyes seemed to be looking deeper, trying to see if I was telling the truth.

"So you don't know who I am?" She asked cautiously as she sat back down.

"Well I know what you told me and what I could get out of Niall and Liam." I answered. This conversation didn't feel right, she didn't seem right.

"Niall huh? How is he?" She asked taring her eyes from mine fiddling with the napkin again.

"He's Niall." I replied vaguely. My memory was triggering a memory in the back of my head pulling my attention away from her. I tried to ignore it but the headache came fast and sudden.

"Why do I feel like this is a test?" Niall joked. Me, Niall and Louis sat at the bar laughing.

"It's not. Honestly. Who knew we had a type?" I said laughing it off. It was too much of a coincidence that I would find the woman I love and she would be the spitting image of Niall's long lost lover. Niall shoved me jokingly as we both found humour regarding the situation.

"They are both very different." Niall offered.

"Opposites even." I said.

"Alive. Dead. Can't get more different."  Louis added. Mine and Niall's laugh slowly stopped as Niall took his drink like a shot, the pain clearly evident.

"Louis." I commented in a tone that said enough. Louis clearly didn't see he had hurt Niall with that painful reminder of Gabrielle's death.

"Harry!" She said in a raised voice, she was knelt between my knees looking up at me in front of my chair when I came out of the memory like a torn page of a book.

"Sorry." I muttered.

"What was that?" She asked concerned.

"One minute you were talking and the next you're yelling about your head?" She asked standing, putting her hands on her hips.

"It's my memories. They come back in broken pieces." I explained as I came back to reality.

"Someone really has gone and done a number on you." She said sitting back down on the chair. I shook my head to try and rid the throbbing when she lent back in her chair watching.

"You did say I hurt your family." I answered. She was watching me, accessing what she was going to say next when a waitress came over.

"Hi folks. What can I get you this morning?" The peppy waitress asked.

"Well no way am I starting this day sober. We'll have two whisky on the rocks." She said leaning forward, her arms landing one on the table looking at me not breaking eye contact as she spoke.
