Mia's POV
"Can I ask about Nolan? What did he do?"
"I don't want to talk about it Marc."
"Good communication leads to a successful pregnancy." I roll my eyes and know he has a point. And with everything we've been through the last few days he deserves an answer.
"Okay we were married for 8 years, he was talking to my sister for about 6 months and when I came home one night after working 20 hours. He was in our bed with her. I went on a rampage drinking and out clubbing every night. I left and moved into Lydia's home, while living at my parent's house as well. I alternate most times of the week. But long story short he didn't pay the mortgages, medical bills, and other debt I didn't even know. That's why I can't stand Kendra, it was her idea they move in my house."
"So let me get this straight...Kendra convinced your ex to kick you out and leave you with the bill?" I nod sadly, ashamed was a better term for it. I have no backbone when it comes to Nolan. "He was my first everything,"
"Lucy was my first everything too." His face goes from sympathy to anger. He holds his face with his fist listening intently. "She acts as if everything is okay." He was offended for me,
"I know and it's her fault my marriage went south. I was such a good wife. I cooked and cleaned; made sure the bills were on time. I was keeping the house in check."
"What did you do before you were divorced?" He asked taking a bite of his food. "Well I was a great house wife, and yes I take that as a job when you're supporting the man. But all my life I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to travel the world and write. Nolan thought it was silly,"
Marc reaches out and grabs my hand lightly, slowly brushing my knuckles with his thumb. "I could never think anything you do as silly. You are a beautiful woman, and from your school records very intelligent. I would love to see your work."
"Oh it was high school stuff, long gone."
"You're one in a million Mia," That hit close to home, "Nolan used that line a lot." I whispered, Marc held my hand over the table. "But I meant it." He leans in over the table. But we were interrupted by our deserts. We laughed it off and resulted in eating, I turned off my phone because I was endless texts from Kendra.
