~ I don't know why you guys were commenting who is Wade when I clearly have written that he's Mia's older brother. ~
Mia's POV
Wade's wife, mystery all in it's own. We as a family rarely see her, what I do know is that they've been married for 5 years. She was beautiful with her dark skin, chocolate eyes, and thick curls. Very tall, like Wade.
"Hey Anita," I say opening my arms wide for her, and she gladly hugs me back.
"It's been so long!" She tells me as we hug, we break apart for Wade to take off her jacket. Wearing a pencil skirt and blouse she must've came from the office. "It really has," I finally say back and she nods removing her gloves. "I hate it though, I never leave the office I swear. I'll do better, Wade has told me all about this Marc Waters guy." She gleams as I lead them both in the living room.
"Marc," I squeak but I guess it was enough to get Marc's attention from my Dad, I announce both Wade and Anita. And both parents are shocked to see her, probably because they haven't seen Anita since the wedding...
Wade just stands perched against the wall. "I haven't seen her in almost a year." I whisper to him, and he smirks. "You were busy with divorce, she was busy with our multi-million dollar company." He shoots back, and I wish Lydia was here to cover for me. I glare at him, "Why keep her from us like you do?" He shrugs his shoulders,
"You constantly brought Nolan around and look what happened? How do I know if Kendra will fall in love with Anita and pursue her?" He was wrong for saying that, Nolan was cheap the day we met, but Anita as far as Facebook stated is that she graduated top of her class from Harvard. That's all I had to read.
We watch Anita network the room like a pro, hugging and kissing, kissing and hugging and before we knew it she was on the sofa eating cheesecake enjoying simple conversation with our mother. "Damn I love her." Wade whispers, I was happy he was happily married to a woman like Anita. Even though I barely knew the girl.
I make a beeline for the cheese cake and sit down on the sofa, when Dad breaks the conversational noise. "So I just have one question? After you knock up my daughter will you be there for her left and right no questions asked?" My dad asked looking Marine serious. I gulped because when he gave you that face you would be better off dead than telling a lie.
"Yes sir," Marc said without missing a beat,
"What about after the baby is born? You're not going to throw her out right?" That's when I saw Wade perk up a bit too, listening in on the answer. Oh geez, if only Lydia were here. "Still whatever she needs left and right, 24/7. She has a choice to whether stay in the child's life, or not. It's entirely up to her."
Ma didn't look all that convinced when she wrinkled her nose up at Marc, I buried my face in my hands in completely embarrassment. "Seems like a lot of talk." Ma chirped, I thought it was my time to come in and rescue Marc. Lifting my head I speak up, "He paid my debt the one Nolan left me." Everyone was stunned silent. Just like I thought! "All of it." My Dad said skeptical still.
