    Alex's P.O.V.

I woke the next morning with a pleasant thought. No nightmares. I had, had the perfect nights sleep which I had all but given up on. I guess being home has an effect on you sometimes. I walked over to Marissa's bed. She was sleeping so soundly. So being me. "MARISSA WAKE UP!!" I yelled jumping on top of her. Her eys shot open and her wand was in her hand in less than a second.

"WHAT?? WHAT?? WHATS WRONG?!" I laughed and fell to the floor in a fit of giggles. When her senses finally came back to her senses she threw her wand on the nightstand and looked down at me murderously. "That was not funny."

"The tears in my eyes beg to differ!" I said still laughing. "You should have seen your freaking face!" Shhe threw the covers from her roughly and got up.

"You just better be glad I didn't A.K. you. That was my first instinct you know."

"Not sure whether to be proud of scared."

"Scared, thats what you should be." I got up from the floor and wiped my eyes.

"Well anyway we have thirty minutes to get ready."

    "Yeah I'm going I'm going."

"Try and sound like your not facing death won't you dear." She walked off and before she got into the bathroom I heard her mumble.

"You might be ya bitch." I laughed some more sooo not a morning person. Though niether was I.

When we were ready we headed down to the common room. There I saw the worst sight ever. Draco Malfoy and his goons. They were all standing around some kid I didn't recognize. He looked about my age though. He was very tall and skinny with short black hair. they took his bag and started passing it back and forth. He desperately grabbed for it but every time he did Crab would push him back roughly. Well, this happened sooner than I thought it would. Boy can't go a day without making someones life miserable. He looked different from what I could see. there were dark circles under his eyes. His hair was a little more limp than usual and he didn't seem to be getting as much, whats the word, joy out of tormenting this poor boy. I looked to Marissa and she knew what i was thinking immediately. She gave me an unsure look but I shrugged and walked down the stairs quickly. "Well, if it isn't Draco. What? Couldn't wait until the first day was over to get your rocks off on tormenting someone?" He looked at me and his eyes widened a bit. Since last year he has been a bit more intimidated by me.

"This doesn't concern you Dumbledore." He spat. Aw little twerp grew a back bone. i walked closer and snatched the other boy's bag from him.

"And niether does this guys stuff." I handed it to the grateful looking boy. "Here don't mind Malfoy he's just your typical spoiled brat who doesn't know how to behave in public. His parents lock him in a pin over the summer. Sad really he just scratches at the door all day. Right boy yeah good boy." I jostled Malfoy's hair as I said this until he slapped my hand away.

"I'm warning you Dumbledore." His voice was deadly now. I turned to face him completely. When I was right in his face I started to speak.

"And what are you gonna do? I'd like to see." All jokingness had gone from my face and was replaced by a cold expression.

"Just stay away from me." He said walking past me and bumping my shoulder as he did. Crab and goyle followed him through the wall and they were gone.

"Damn Alex you certainly do have that boy scared of you." Marissa said.

"I'll say." The boy who I had forgotten was there pipped in. "Thanks really. I didn't even say anything to them i was just down here trying to remember how to get to the great hall when they came up and started all that crap." He had a deep voice that didn't quite match his look. Also an American accent. Something I wasn't used to around here.
