Severus's P.O.V.

Panicking. I hated panicking. Surely she wouldn't do anything stupid. Surely she wouldn't fall for their trap. Alex was stubborn though. She didn't always think before she acted. She's bloody brilliant and has a great mind but she lets things cloud her judgement and runs off adrenaline when she gets in a bind! She didn't think it through. But when Greyback and Bellatrix get here of course Alex would know they aren't coming alone! Surely she would know it's an ambush! Please Alex... Please think first, love.. I watched the burrow from my hiding place in the trees, a good distnce from the house. They would be here soon. It was so fucking frustrating! I couldn't even protect her! I know that any minute the house that holds everything to me inside it is about to be attacked and I can't even warn her! I don't know if I have the time... If they see me... For a moment I thought about going ahead and doing it, but so much could be lost. I couldn't risk it, but Merlin I wanted to! I bit my lip to keep myself from screaming out with frustration. I just want her safe... That's all I want... I crouched lower behind the bushes and trees as the door opened and someone walked out. Alex! I started towards her, but stopped myself quickly. I couldn't. They woud be here any second. Alex please... go back inside. Please! I watched as she stood and looked up at the stars, absent mindedly playing with the ring on her finger.. The ring I had given her.. She was thinking of me. Oh Merlin Alex now is not the time!

The door opened again and Potter walked out. He stood still for a moment watching Alex then started to talk. I couldn't hear him. He walked next to Alex and they were talking to one another, but her eyes never left the sky. The door opened once again. This time Remus and Tonks walked out. Remus good.. He would stop her in case she decided to do something irrational. That's when I saw it... It was starting. A small flicker of light before a wall of fire errupted around the burrow and Bellatirx appeared before the flames. She was to distract Potter and get him away from the others and of course it worked. The boy took off after the crazy bat. I coud hear Alex start to yell at him before she caught sight of Greyback. Remus was at her side though. He'd stop her. I felt my heart clench as Alex took off, Remus just narrowly missing her arm as he reahed out for it. I nearly screamed out for her to stop, but forced the words to catch in my throat. She'll be okay... She'll be okay.. I repeated this at least two dozen times to myself as I lost track of her in the tall grass. I could see the grass moving all around the direction she had went. They were surrounding her. Everyone else was after Potter. She didn't stand a chance.. Oh Merlin... Alex... Please.. Please, Merlin, please.. I can't lose her. I just got her back.. I can't ever lose her.

You never know what true pain is until you watch the person you love more than anything in the world be ambushed and attacked by death eaters and theres not a damn thing you can do about it. Time seemed to slow down as I watched hex after hex fly at her. Each one going to the same spot. I couldn't see Alex, or anyone else for that matter, but I could see the light of curses. I could hear the angry screams and the horrid cackles of the mad and insane. All aimed at her. All aimed at my everything. It felt like hours I stood there, breath caught in my throat, watching the flashes of light. It couldn't have been more than minutes in all actaullity. Seconds even. But it felt like an eternity. There were more rustles in the grass as people ran to where Alex was. It must have been Remus and everyone else. I prayed they'd get to her in time. When I looked back to where Alex was a dome was in the air. It must have been shielding her. Alex.. yes.. Thank Merlin. Just hold on a little longer. "Just a little longer love." More hexes flew from all directions as Remus and everyone else advanced on Alex and the Death Eaters. Soon, one by one, they began to disapperate until I believed they were all gone. I let out a breath of relief as the dome dropped and someone reached Alex. That person yelled.. it sounded like Potter... please be okay Alex... No doubt she must have used an awful lot of magic. She would be drained. All of a sudden I heard a huge explosion. I looked up to see The Weasley's house on fire... Merlin... Seconds later Arthur Weasley and his kids were all in front of the house along with Molly. They watched with grief as their home burned. I sighed and saw Potter run up to them along with Nymphadora. Where was Alex? Moments later my question was answered when Remus ran up and sat Alex on the ground to join the Weasley's in trying to stop the fire. Alex lay lifeless on the ground with blood all over her face, dripping down to her neck. She used far too much power... I couldn't saty away any longer. She needed to be treated. I didn't care. I darted from my spot in a full sprint to where Alex lay and picked her up gently. Her eyes closed, but I suspected she was still slightly concious. When I picked her up she moved closer to me and clung to my robes. "My darling... I'm going to get you taken care of. Relax love." I whispered to her.
