On Her Mind..

-Chris's POV-

I came home from a long stressful day at the studio, I dragged my rucksack upstairs, I winced as I put down my heavy bag.
Elise flinched awake to the sound of my bag hitting the floor,
She got up and gave me a small smile as she wrapped her arms around me as our lips touched.
"Babe-
"Shh, Hannah's asleep" She whispered.
"Ohh," i kissed her cheek.
She looked down sadly as I headed downstairs.

Hannah left not long after.
Elise was acting out of the ordinary.
She was distant again. She was the old her.
The one I met in Glasgow, which scared me.
Elise was cooking dinner. I watched her every move.
"Need a hand?"
"I got it" she said solemnly,
I got up from the sofa and headed to the kitchen.
She grated the cheese and put it in a pan.
She waited for the water to boil.
I put my hand over hers and she flinched at my touch.
"Somethings on your mind" I said softly.
"Your tired again" said Elise avoiding the conversation as she grabbed seasoning,
"What's wrong Elise"
She shook her head, "dinner is almost ready, could you set the table?"
I did as she asked.
I heard her whimper faintly,
I turned to see her shed tears down her porcelain face.
"Darling please don't-
"I'm sorry" she cried.
"For what baby I don't understand"
"It's okay if you don't, you will one day,"
I frowned,
"Excuse me I need some air-
"No don't-
I said grabbing her arm, preventing her from leaving.
"Don't go, blocking me out again"
"Hannah she- I seen her and it just hurt me"
"She'll be okay-
"No- no she won't, no one will understand but I will"
"What are you saying"
"My father,"
"Darling we've talked about this-
"It doesn't change a thing.
"It's not your fault Elise don't ever think like that"
She shook her head, tugging to let herself free,
"No one is blaming you here" I said trying to look her in the eye.
"Hannah knows it isn't your fault Ellie" my voice broke as I began to cry myself.
"Hannah doesn't blame you" I whispered in her ear.
"But I do" she whispered back.

We lay distant from each other in bed.
"Rough day at work huh?"
"Yeah" I sighed sitting up.
Elise got on her knees and massaged my shoulders.
"What will I do without you Ellie"
"You need to be more careful, I don't want you getting injured" she said rubbing my back.
I brung her onto my lap, and brushed her hair from her face.
" I love you you know that right?"
"I love you too"
