~Chapter 23~ We're not over.
~Steph's P.O.V~
Adam and Jerome carried Mitch back to the vehicle. I looked over to see him.
"What's wrong?" I asked Jerome. He sighed and shrugged.
I started to tear up. It's my fault. If I would have stayed and kissed Jason. Actually, if I would've never went to the fair with him. I would still be with Zac, I'd still have a family, and I wouldn't be known by the hospital nurses.
Trust me, Mitch is the best thing that's ever happened to me, but this is getting to be to much. I must be the worst thing that's happened to him.
"Steph, come sit in the back seat with Mitch." Jerome insisted. I did has he asked, getting out of the passenger side and moving to the back to be by my boyfriend. I grabbed his hand before whispering into his ear.
"I'm more trouble than I'm worth. Do you still want me?" I asked. He nodded. I smiled as he closed his eyes. I prayed that he would be okay.
We drove and drove. It felt like forever until we got to the hospital. We got inside the normal part of the building only to be located to a different spot. I waited as he gave all the insurance information to the man. I held on to Jerome as he stood there. We had all been hurt by this, and I wish I could've changed it. Can we go back in time?
The brought him up to a room, but only immediate family could see him. We weren't his family, we were almost, but not by blood.
We made our way to the nearest waiting room and waited. There were two computers and one puzzle on the table. I wish that Mitch was in here and not the puzzle. I would much rather hold on to him and cry on his shoulder than be crying over some stupid puzzle because of him.
The doctor came in the room and told us that I could see him. I didn't want to go in there alone. I made it quite obvious that I would wait until Adam and Jerome were allowed to go in the room also. She left and went back to care for Mitch.
I went on the computer. I checked my Twitter and sighed. Everyone was so happy. They didn't know what happened. They would never know, let alone understand, the pain.
Jerome walked over and put an arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer to him.
"Do you want some coffee, hun?" He asked. I shook my head before he left. He went and made a pot of coffee. I logged off the computer and went by his side.
"What do you think happened?" I asked. He described the part that Adam and he had seen. He probably has a black eye and maybe a bruised rib. Because of me, he's suffering.
The doctor came back and told us that we all could go in. I smiled at her before walking in the room holding onto Jerome's arm.
I slowly approached the bed. He smiled and stood up. I guess he's fine, then. I hugged him lightly, pressing my lips onto his jawline because of the hight difference. He just laughed and hugged me back. I smiled and inhaled his scent.
"So when are they letting you out?" I asked. He sat up on the operating table.
"We just need the nurse to come and give me permission. I just want to go back to the hotel room, honestly." He said. I nodded at his comment.
I turned around to see the nurse come in the room. She looked at all of us and smiled. I gave a fake smile before looking at Mitch. She started commenting on things that made me uncomfortable, like his size. I went over and sat by him.
He put an arm around my shoulder and pulled me close. She winked at me and talked about how lucky I must've been to have seen it. I asked if we could have a male doctor instead, then she started complaining about how I just wanted eye candy. She was a pain in my ass, actually.
