Chapter Five

L E I G H ' S  P O V

Now, I've gotta admit, I've never been to a sleepover before. I've never really had friends to go with. I'm low-key nervous that it's just going to be Jade and I. I don't know I just kind of feel weird around her. Not like how I am with Perrie or Jesy. I get, butterflies in my stomach when I see her or think of her. 

I pick up my backpack and slide it onto my back. I quickly pull on my favorite converse and head out the door. It was a quite sunny day and it felt nice to have some sun shining in England for once. After a few minutes of walking and soaking up the sun, I reached Jade's house. I take a deep breath and knock on the door quietly. A short, older looking woman opened the door.

"Hello dear, I'm Norma. Come on inside sweetheart," She beams a smile, which looks just like Jade's. 

"Thank you, Ms. Badwi," I say and follow her inside.

"Norma is fine. I'll go get Jade. You can just take a seat on the couch here.

I take a seat on the white couch, not really knowing what to do. I whipped out my phone and scrolled through my Instagram. A few minutes later Jade came into the lounge area.

"Sorry it took so long, I hadn't finished cleaning my room. Come, follow me," Jade beckons.

When Jade turns around I can't help but smile. Her wild curly hair was tied up in a loose ponytail. She always looks pretty with her hair tied up. I shake my head from the thoughts and follow her to her bedroom. Her house was big. Bigger than I thought it would be. 

She opens the door to her bedroom and there was a big fort made out of blankets draped over her bed. Fairy lights followed the blankets. On her bed, there were multiple packets of sweets on the bed with popcorn and movies. 

"Wow," I blurt out.

"Your mum told me that you've never had a sleepover so I wanted to make it extra special."

"Jade," I say, a single tear slides down my cheek.

"Awh, are you okay?"

"I, nobody has ever been this nice to me or done anything like this for me before."

Jade pulls me into a warm and welcoming hug. It felt so nice to have a presence 

"I also got us some matching pajamas," She reaches into a bag and pulled out baby blue onesies. 

"Jade, you are the best!" I squeal and grab the onesie from her outstretched hand. 

"I try my best!" She beams and leaves the room to her en suite to get changed. I quickly do the same and hop on her bed. A few minutes later Jade came out with a makeup bag and suggested we did each other's makeup. 

I nod and she brings her bag of stuff to the bed and empties it. She puts on a movie in the back and opens a packet of skittles. We spent hours laughing and trying out makeup looks on each other. It was so nice to have someone like Jade. And let's be real, I didn't mind staring at her face intently for hours. 

"Okay, okay, okay, so Leigh. Is there anybody you have a crush on?"

"Uh, no," I say quickly.

"Hm," she asks, raising an eyebrow.

"I don't, I swear!" I laugh and put my hands up in surrender.  

She laughs then flops down onto her bed and opens a bag of sweets. I take a seat next to her and grab a handful of the candy. We went silent and started to watch the movie. Jade's phone kept buzzing on the bedside table and we both tried to ignore it but then it got too annoying so she picked up her phone.

"You ugly wh-," she begins to read but she covers her mouth.

"What?" I question and crawl next to her on the bed.

"There's heaps of comments on this post saying really mean things about me."

I take the phone from her and read all the comments on her new post.

"Woah," I say.

Jade snatches the phone back from me, which was a little rude.

"Are you alright?" I ask and place my hand on her back but she quickly slaps it away.

"Leigh-Anne I think you need to leave."

"But Jade I."

"Please just go," she says coldly.

I sigh and get off of the bed. I pack my things back up in my backpack. It was dark outside and she wasn't even going to bother to walk me home. I turn to look at her one last time and she is glued to her phone. I open the white door and slam it behind me. 

"Is everything okay dear?" Norma asks, who is sitting on the couch reading a book.

"Everythings fine, just feel sick. See you around Ms. Badwi."

I quickly exit the house and I feel so overwhelmed by the events that have just happened. Was she blaming me for all those comments? I clench my fists really tight and begin to walk home. When I get home I walk inside and ignore all of the questions my mum was throwing at me. I stormed into my room and locked the door. 

I throw my bag at my mirror, making it fall over. I rip off the onesie I had on and put on different pajamas. I take out my phone in anger and go to Jade's Instagram and look through her comments. I can't believe she wouls just throw me out like that. She went to all this trouble to make a 'perfect' sleepover and then she throws me out?

I kept scrolling and scrolling until I found a comment that stuck out to me.

milacabello - it's sad that she has to hang out with the new girl. just drop her already.

My heart began to pound. I'm on the verge of losing one of my only friends. I try to call Perrie but she doesn't pick up. Probably because she's on that date and god knows what they are doing. I then try to call Jade but she doesn't pick up.

I take a deep breath and dive under my duvet cover. I try to resist myself from crying. Crying is all that I have done my whole life.

My eyes flutter open and I look around my room. Little rays of sunshine were peaking through the curtains and reflecting on the floor. I sigh and picked up my phone from the side of the bed. I quickly texted Perrie.

L: Sleepover = not great 

P: What happened?

L: I don't know tbh. Meet at the cafe, 15 mins?

P: Sure x

I sigh and lock my phone. I get out of bed and combed through my curly hair and tied it in a messy bun. I pulled on a pair of leggings and a sweater. I then grab my phone and wallet and ran downstairs and out the house before anyone could catch me

When I got to the cafe, Perrie was there with, Jade.

Hope you enjoyed tihs chapter. Left a lil cliffhanger. This took so long to get up becuase my internet stopped working in the middle of writing this. I hope you liked the longer(ish) chapter :)
