"Please you need to help me no one will anymore I'm begging you I didn't do it. I didn't kill my wife," Jonas pleaded through the bars. She tightened her tie and adjusted her glasses and sighed. She turned to the boy next to him.
"He's desperate," the boy next to her whispered.
"Please Andrea, you're the only one who will help me," Jonas pleaded.
"What do you think Miller?" Andrea said getting up.
"I mean," Miller said rubbing the back of his head.
"I think that he didn't do it. And I think I should help him. Who's the prosecutor for this trial Miller?" Andrea asked looking at Miller.
"Mindy Fairbee," Miller said.
"Shoot she's the best prosecutor in town," Andrea said.
"No wonder no one will help him," Miller said.
"I'll go take a look at the scene of the crime, but first Jonas you need to tell me what you know," Andrea said. Jonas nodded his head nervously and started telling Andrea everything he knew.
...
"I killed her like you said."
"That should put him and her in a loop for a while. They'll be so stressed he can't even focus. That'll give you some free time."
"They won't even suspect me at the trial you know?"
"Yeah I'm aware. You're smart though and we framed him and her good.
"Thanks for helping me by the way."
"You're the one helping me."
"It benefits the both of us."
...
Andrea bit her lip as she touched Kaeli's body as she was wearing gloves.
"The trial is tomorrow morning do you think that you can do it?" Miller asked.
"The motive is unclear, but," Andrea said getting up. "There's only a couple of suspects. The security cameras were turned off during the murder and a few hours before so they were tampered with from the outside not the inside. Ethan Snook was in the house the whole time so he couldn't have turned off the cameras which leaves Ariel Reese and Jonas Fitzhugh. They have a guard dog who barks at any strangers and according to Ethan's account there was no barking that he was aware of. But of course he was out of the house during the murder so I'm not too sure if his account is trustworthy. Jonas says that he's usually awoken by the dog if it barks, so that means that no one came in. Well except for the fact that one person couldn't do this alone. Plus Kaeli seemed to be slammed up against a wall saying that there is blood over in that corner on the floor and a little on the wall. I'm not sure though."
"Sounds like if you want to be saved you need to accuse Ariel," Miller said.
"You're right, it's the only reasonable suspect other than Jonas," Andrea said.
"Well you better get some rest for the trial tomorrow," Miller said.
"Yeah," Andrea said as she walked out of the house. She then started driving away from the house and to her house. Sara sat in the backseat as she crossed her arms.
"You know Ariel didn't kill her own cousin," Sara said scoffing.
"Okay I know I know and why try and cover up such a sick murder," Andrea said driving faster.
"This trial is unsolvable," Sara said.
"I know, but I can't win against Mindy, my reputation is going to be ruined I just can't think of who it would be. The killer isn't Ariel, it's not Jonas, and it's not GunShot. All 3 of those people were framed, but who and why would they frame them? Wait," Andrea said grabbing some files and looking through them.
"Did you figure it out?" Sara asked.
"Yeah I think I did," Andrea said looking through the files.
...
The judge struck his gavel on the little circle on the court podium. The jury sat in their chairs and the audience watched having a worried look on their faces.
"Is the prosecutor Mindy Fairbee ready?" the judge asked.
"Why of course," Mindy said standing up straight.
"How about the defense attorney Andrea Raven? Wait where is Andrea Raven?" the judge asked looking at the defense attorney's spot.
"She couldn't make it today. I'm here to take her place, my name is Miller Croke," Miller said nervously.
"Oh well that's unfortunate. Why couldn't she make it today?" the judge asked.
"I don't know she just texted me that she couldn't make the trial today so she wanted me to take her spot," Miller replied.
"Okay I guess that's fine. The trial of Kaeli Fitzhugh begins now," the judge said slamming his gavel on the counter.
...
"Let me go!" Andrea shouted as duct tape was put back on her mouth.
"Sheesh you're such a loud mouth," a man said as he scrolled through her phone. Andrea tried speaking but the duct tape blocked her from doing so.
"Don't you think we're taking this too far by kidnapping her?" A girl said coming out of the shadows.
"Nope, we'll torture her, brainwash her, and most importantly make her forget that she ever knew who killed Kaeli," the man said stroking Andrea's hair as Andrea tried to struggle in her chair.
"I'm not sure about this," the girl said rubbing her arm.
"Yeah whatever," the man said walking up the stairs. "Watch her." The girl turned to Andrea and saw her struggling.
"Be quiet okay," the girl said taking off the duct tape. Andrea took a deep breath and looked at the girl.
"I'm going to help you escape but please don't tell anyone that I killed Kaeli," the girl said untying Andrea.
"Okay, but do you really trust me?" Andrea asked standing up.
"I know I probably can't but I don't care. I've been alone or left in the dust most of my life. I can't stand people who are helpless," the girl said. Andrea smiled and the girl led them to a door which they left the dusty garage. They started running away from the broken down house until they caught their breaths.
"Isn't your friend going to be pissed at you?" Andrea asked.
"Oh completely pissed, but he's not my friend. We partnered up just to kill Kaeli because we both had our reasons. I don't really know him to well but he's approached me when I was alone," the girl said.
"Why did you want to kill Kaeli?" Andrea asked.
"Because I wanted to put Ariel in a loop. She's not a true friend to me and I think she's getting in the way. It was more of a last minute decision too. I'm jealous of her. She gets to have the guy Dawson but she also has Caleb under her little wing too. I wish sometimes she would just hang out with me. I wish anyone would just hang out with me," the girl said.
"I'll spend time with you, what's your name?" Andrea asked.
"Christina," Christina said with a smile.
...
"I shall give the final verdict now," the judge said. Miller was in a panic. He missed something, he was at his hands and knees, he failed.
"Go ahead judge," Mindy said with a smile.
"Jonas Fitzhugh is without a final doubt guilty," the judge said slamming his gavel on the circle. Jonas started crying as security guards started dragging him away.
"Good try Miller," Mindy said walking over to Miller and lifting up his head and then dropping it. Miller sighed as he drearily walked out of the trial room. He clenched his hand into a fist and started running. He ran and ran until he got out of breath in a forest. He collapsed to the ground and looked up. The sky was blue and beautiful, the trees were green and pretty, and the grass was soft and comfortable. Miller started to fall asleep as he fell asleep even though his phone ringing.
