Thunder here to bring you yet another segment of Writing Music. Today we'll be looking at the sadder side of things. If you're writing a scene that requires this kind of mood, great! If not, I still recommend listening just because of how nice these tracks sound.
Briar's Opinions: Sad music is a bit of an iffy genre, as there are many stereotypical sub-genres that I find to be completely unhelpful, like break-up songs for example. Those are never good for writing grieving, depressing, or just in general SAD scenes that aren't related to an ended relationship. However, there are still many helpful, and emotional, genres that are readily available (ex. Piano instrumentals, violin pieces, etc.). Regardless, this kind of music is really great for making your scenes emotional and heart-wrenching (and possibly leaves your readers crying), which isn't a terrible thing in this case.
