* Calum's POV *"So what time till they're back?" Samantha asks, glancing over at all the stuff we snagged for the party at a store. We got balloons, plates, food, and a bunch of other stuff for decorations.
"Two or three. They left late this morning around five or six so we should have at least five hours to get everything ready." I say, double checking my phone to see if he texted me.
"Alright. Well, let's get to it." She claps her hands together and smiles widely. Luckily, Genevieve's brothers weren't here but her second oldest brother came and opened the door and let us in. All he said is don't steal anything and save them some food.
We start by taking everything out and getting everything sorted and then we start decorating. Well, she starts decorating and I walk around, taking in the big house.
My phone in my back pocket rings and I drop what I'm doing and reach for it quickly. But instead of seeing Theo's name, I see Caleb's name.
"Hello?" I ask, walking away from Samantha for privacy.
"Hey Calum?" He asks.
"Yeah I'm here." I step inside, sitting down at the table. Gens house is nice. Big and spacious.
"Hey! How you doing?" He asks, sounding genuinely happy.
I smile. "I'm good. How about you?"
"Perfect. Thanks. Hey, I'm sorry I haven't talked to you much." He sighs. We haven't talked a lot but when we do it's usually at night and late and we only text. The last time he called me was maybe a few days ago.
"Its alright. I understand." I frown, trying not to hint in my voice how disappointed I was.
"Hey how's the old man?" He says in a low voice. I gulp. What do I say? I haven't seen him in forever. Ever since Theo came into my life, I haven't thought about him once. I wonder if he is okay.......
"Honestly Caleb, I haven't been to that house in months really. I was planning on going for small checkups but I forgot and anyways, I'd rather not." I shrug even though he can't see me.
"Yeah....but I mean, we still have to care. He is our father after all." Caleb says in a small voice.
"I can't believe you can still say that after everything." I chuckle, rubbing my forehead.
"Well, eventually you have to forgive to forget." He adds.
"And where did you get that from? A quote off of the internet? Seriously Caleb, I'm done with him." I stand up, ready to hang up on him.
"Calum can you just do me one favor? Just go check. Drive by. Whatever. Just see if he's still there." He says it more in a sincere voice than demanding.
"Fine Caleb. Fine." I growl, trying to keep my cool. He's not the one that still lives here. He bailed and he's still trying to make me 'forgive'. Fucking hypocrite.
"Thank you Calum. Tell me about it later. I have to go. I miss you Calum. You should come visit sometime."
"Maybe one day......" I look out the window and see Samantha reaching up as far as she can to hang up a banner.
"Speaking of this, I should tell you that I'm engaged and the wedding is this summer. You should really come, Calum. I can pay for tickets to fly down here and whatever you need. All you need to do is pack your bag." He sounds like he's getting happy thinking of this but I was kind of worried. Would I be able to take Theo as a plus one or just leave him here?
"One day, Caleb. I have to go okay? I'll call you later on. Bye Caleb."
"Bye Calum. Love ya."
"Ditto." And I hang up. I slide my phone in my pocket and I walk back to the living room, joining Sammy.
