* Calum's POV*
"Damn it Nick stop fooling around! You're gonna get us in trouble." I whisper harshly, trying to stop him with my words from doing something stupid.
I was working a double today and so was Nick. No customers were coming up to my register so I decided to make conversations with Nick. And somehow during the conversation, he decided that he would be able to fit on the mini horse that you had to pay a quarter to ride. The sign said 'No Older Than 11' and Nick decided that it was completely fine.
So I gave him a quarter and he ran over there and tried to get on. But Nick is a 5'11 twig so he fit and now he won't get off. Luckily, nobody was coming up to his register but people were passing by and giving him odd looks. And then I saw the manager.
"Nick! Red alert! Abort mission!" I yell, turning away from him and pretending that I had no part in that. He finally climbed off but it was too late.
"What were you doing?" She says, scowling at him. He looked like a deer in headlights.
"Um....I dropped a quarter and I came to get it." He lied, eyes wide.
She keeps her eyes narrowed and I can tell she doesn't believe him. "Uh huh. So, where is the quarter?" She puts her hands on her hips and I muffle a laugh with my hand.
"Under there. I tried to reach but I couldn't unless I got on top of the horse." He shrugs. "But it's okay. Calum has a quarter. Thanks, bye." He tries running away but she steps in front of him.
"You know what happens to people who don't listen, don't you?" She pokes the middle of his chest with her index finger, still scowling at him.
"Um....you get fired?" He says hesitantly, glancing over at me. I smile and he glares at me.
"Exactly! So get back to work!" She yells and he lets out a frightened noise, running back to the register. She walks off and he pretends to cry.
I laugh and shake my head. I realise that it's time for me to leave and I turn off the light signaling that I was open. "Alright Nick, I'm out." I say, getting my things together.
"Aw! Already?" He whines, frowning at me.
"Yup. Have fun." I leave the store despite his pleads. I couldn't wait to get back to Theo. We only spoke this morning and then we both left for work. We texted every now and then but just some light conversation.
I start up my car and I turn on some music, bobbing my head to the music. I pull out of the parking lot and I start driving to the apartment.
I've been thinking a lot about my family. About Caleb and my dad. Ever since we finally made up, I kinda got a little more comfortable around him but I know I'll never forget what he did before. It took me awhile to believe him when he said he's better but I still had some doubts. Every now and then when we're on the phone, he'll get a little heated but he'll immediately back off.
And with Caleb getting married and what not, I thought about how I wanted my life to plan out. I mean, I obviously want to spend it with Theo. And I know he feels the same way. And I'm not talking about those cheesy conversations we have about getting a house together and getting kids but I really do feel something stronger for Theo.
I told Caleb about him and he was surprised. Saying things like 'but you never gave any hints!' and 'how come I've never known!'. It's not because I was embarrassed to tell him but I didn't know when or how. But as soon as he calmed down, he said many nice things. About how he loves I'm happy and he can't wait to meet Theo. I'm ready to introduce him but we're so far away. But he said his wedding is coming up and that'd be the perfect time to introduce them. So now, I can't wait. I haven't told Theo but I'm planning on doing it as soon as I got back.
