“Luhan, are you busy after school today?”
I turned around, immediately recognizing the quiet voice of my best friend, Sehun. He had a somewhat troubled expression, but it’s quite difficult to comply what is wrong. He’s hard to read and often doesn’t express himself often, or rather he doesn’t ever tell his problems. I lifted a brow as I thought this. Sehun never came to me—maybe once in a blue moon—about his problems, so whenever he does, it must be serious.
“No, what do you need?”
Sehun scratched the back of his head and dropped his hand, “I was wondering…if I may spend the night?”
I shuffled my feet as I began deciding. I’ve told no one I have a roommate; A female roommate to be specific, really. If that wasn’t bad enough, it wasn’t just any female in this school.
It was Hyori Hyun, our school’s Ice Queen. She never smiles—hell, she never moves her mouth except when addressing the teacher, Yixing, and maybe sometimes, if he’s lucky, Kyungsoo. Despite having features that pretty much remain frozen in time, her features...Well...They’re perfect.
Compared to our days in middle school, I would have never glanced twice at her. I thought she was hideous. I thought, “Why an American is is attending our school when barely being able to introduce her to the class?” I was probably—no—I was racist and jealous ass back in middle school, but I’m also a foreigner in South Korea.
However suddenly, she disappeared I believe our second year of high school, and before she enrolled, BOOM, she’s in my living room and I hear that she’ll be my new roommate. When I saw her, I almost couldn’t believe it was her. I don’t know how Yixing immediately recognized her.
Hyomin—I learned her real name by accident and I don’t know why she has a fake name—has changed drastically. From her pale skin to the ends of her hair, Hyomin has changed so much it’s almost not real.
I bit my lip and faced Sehun. I’ll probably text her on my way home and hopefully she won’t mind. I also trust Sehun to keep this secret.
“Lulu?”
I sighed inwardly before forcing a grin, “Sure. Do you need a ride to your house?”
“That’d be nice. Thank you hyung.”
On our way out of school, I pulled out my phone and averted it from Sehun’s line-of-sight and quickly searched for Hyomin’s contact number. Did I put her number in my phone? I continued scrolling through my phone until I almost slapped myself in the face.
Ha, no. I do not have her number whatsoever. Just great, right?
I kept in all my frustration as we both our way into my car and got into it. I drove the fifteen minutes it takes to Sehun’s apartment, and I’m grateful that the traffic right now isn’t so heavy.
The ride was quiet, and I can tell Sehun isn’t ready to talk about whatever is making him upset. We arrived at his decently big house and I waited outside for him to pack some of his belongings. He was out of his house within five minutes, carrying on his shoulder his duffel bag from Nike. Sehun got in, and I speeded down the highway back to my house.
