9 - Jump then Fall

Today we're set to go to Tangadan and medyo kabado ako kasi kasama si Ina.

Sa totoo lang, wala naman na talaga akong pakialam sa kanya. What she did to me before is already water under the bridge. My only concern now is Des, especially since Ina got her eyes on her.

--- Flashback ---

"So... is she your new girl?", Ina asked when we got inside the office. Thank goodness may dala siyang sariling sasakyan kasi wala akong balak makipag-usap sa kanya tungkol sa kahit ano.

I didn't answer and made my way to my table instead. I got my keys from my pocket and unlocked the drawer to get the papers she needed.

"So siya nga? You haven't changed much, Kib.", I heard her say.

"You don't know anything.", tipid kong sagot.

Ni-lock ko na yung drawer at inabot sa kanya yung mga papers. I didn't miss how she caressed my hand when she took the papers from me.

Agad kong binawi ang kamay ko at nauna nang maglakad papunta sa pinto. Nakasunod siya sa akin at nang makalabas na kami pareho ay kinandado ko na yung opisina. Nakailang hakbang na ako palayo nang muli siyang magsalita.

"I know a lot of things. Hindi naman ako writer para sa wala.", narinig kong sabi niya. "Host siya, right? It's a good thing makakasama ko siya bukas. I'll be inspired to write about her and her show."

Napatigil ako sa paglalakad dahil doon. I turned around to face her.

"I didn't get back at you before kasi nirerespeto kita despite what you did. Don't make me lose the last strand of respect I have for you kasi hindi mo gugustuhin pag ako ang bumawi. So do yourself a favor and leave Des alone.", I said and left.

"Anong pakiramdam na makakasama mo si past and future?", Aljun asked, bringing me back to my senses.

"Manahimik ka nga.", sagot ko lang sa kanya.

He and Drei are in the backseat while my sister's seated in the shotgun seat. Nag-message si Des kagabi kay Khryzia na wag na daw namin siyang sunduin kasi meron pa siyang kasama. That's when I realized that I still don't have her number. Ayaw namang ibigay ng magaling kong kapatid kasi dapat daw ako ang kumuha mismo kay Des.

We're on our way to meet them and Ina at the drop-off point for trekking.

"I thought ayaw ni Ina ng tubig maliban sa pool?", Drei asked.

We used to go on trips when we were still together kaya kilala na rin nila si Ina. And yup, she doesn't like natural waters, let alone the sea. Feeling daw niya kasi ang lagkit nun sa katawan. As a result, she never learned how to swim. Hindi naman yun naging hindrance sa akin dati kahit pa literal na I grew up by the beach. For me, love means accepting each other's differences and learning to adjust.

But when I met Des, doon lang nag-cross sa isip ko na masaya din palang matutunan niyo yung gusto ng isa't isa. That way, you get to do the things you love together. I love the deep waters and I love surfing. And sobrang nag-enjoy ako when Des and I spent the day in the sea.

I didn't say anything, and Khryzia was the one who answered.

"Alam mo, for sure di lang nun matanggap na naka-move on na si ahia, tapos with an amazing girl pa.", she said.
