CHP. 13 "Sorcerer's Stone"

Abelard's P.O.V

We were laughing about a take from the guardian when someone burst through the door. I whipped around and looked at the horrific sight before me. It was Ryan. A very bloody and cut open Ryan. I ran to him and knelt down beside him. He looked up at me with tears rolling down his face and said "He...took her...he took her and... I couldn't help...her. I'm...sor-" his eyes turned up and he sunk to the floor. I widened my eyes and yelled "Get me the healers! NOW! They gathered around me and started their magic. They started to carry him away and I stood. I said "He said that he got Raine. I'm guessing it was Stryker." I turned to Caleb. "We need to go, now." he nodded and I stood. It was weird. I knew Stryker couldn't just take Raine without a fight. I looked around. I noticed her half drank cup of water. I remembered her asking me something about it. I picked it up and sniffed it. I breathed in the smell deeply and I recognized it almost immediately. It was a poison called Slaap gif. It is meant to make you extremely fatigued in a heavy dosage it could even kill you. I swallowed and mentally scolded myself for brushing it off so easily. I should have been more alert. I called Faaris and Arian and I grabbed Caleb, Grey, and Chase. My guard unit. I looked towards the guardian and she nodded. I walked out and met with 5 angry, vengeful dragons. Three were sky dragons and the others were Faaris and Arian. I got on Arian and looked towards Caleb. I said "How can we find the stone?" he said "We need to find the tallest place and the dragons will lead us towards the place where the stone lies." I nodded and we looked around. There was the top of an arched building and then there was a very high tree. I compared them and it turned out the building was higher. I nudged Arian and he flew to the top of the building. I looked at Arian. His eyes kept flicking towards the East. I smiled softly and said "It's to the east, let's go." we flew off the building and I was flanked by Caleb and Chase as Grey took the rear. We flew for about 4 hours before I noticed Arians ears flicking more toward the South East. We turned slightly and started to fly faster. No one said a word for a few miles but when day broke over the trees Chase said "We need to rest. You haven't slept for almost a ful day. Lets go down, we can carry on at midday. I nodded and we landed. The dragons went hunting and we set up a temporary camp. I say down and closed my eyes. I fell asleep, it felt like only a second passed before I was roused. I blinked my eyes open only to see white as the sun had come up. I Sat up and rubbed my eyes letting my eyes adjust. I looked at Caleb who gave me some food the dragons had brought back. I thanked him and ate. I looked around and noticed Faaris was sitting away from the others. I got up and walked over to her and she flicked her ears acknowledging me I knelt down and grabbed her face lifting it level with my own. What I saw broke my heart. Her eyes were red and she looked terrible. She had tears running through the fine scales on her face and I said "I know that you are thinking this is your fault. For not being there when she needed you but you are wrong. It's my fault. I should have paid attention to her when she Said that her drink was weird. It was a poison. A poison! I should have known something was wrong when she started to get tired. You know Raine, she could stay up for days when there was a party. She wouldn't just get exhausted out of the blue." Faaris's eyes got big and I no longer had to keep her face up. I kept going though, even as I felt my voice raise, even as I felt everyone's presence, even as I felt blood come from my nails I had dug into my palms. "I let that monster get her and I shouldn't have! It should have been me walking her home. I should have told you guys that she was coming back! Why couldn't I have stopped this from happening. Why didn't we just stay in the confines of my mother's castle and helped with the baby's room... Why couldn't we just stay and be good. I bet moms sick and now... I could have just gotten my twin...my sister... My best friend killed. I looked up at Faaris To see her pained face, I rubbed the tears from my eyes and I looked around. No matter how many times I wiped my face I cried more. I looked to see Chase wiping her face and to see Grey's pained race, Caleb was looking at the ground shaking and his Dragon was rubbing his head against his side in comfort. I looked at Arian to see him in the same state as Faaris. I looked back at Faaris and I slid my hand up her neck and hugged her. She pressed her chin against my back and we sat like that for a long time. She gave me a good squeeze and I then let go. I fell back on my knees and sat down, I felt arms wrap around me and I turned to hug Chase. She said "For such a young kid, your the bravest person I have ever known. And so is your sister." I nodded and stood up. I ran my hand along Faaris's face once more before going to press myself against Arian. He shuddered and leaned into me too. I got on him and looked to see everyone wiping their faces and pulling themselves up on their dragons. I nodded to everyone and we slowly took off one by one. I leaned forward and rested myself on Arian's strong neck. He purred before flying straight towards the stone that would lead us to the sorcerer. The sorcerer would enable us to take the spell away from the area surrounded by the three biomes. We flew till nightfall and we even flew for most of the night but eventually we had to land and set up camp for the rest of the night. I looked to Caleb and I smiled as we waited for Chase and Grey to get back, they had gone looking for some water. I heard a twig snap and turned to see grey about to scare us. I smiled and he said "Ah no way! That's not fair." I laughed and he crouched down " how you doing kid?" I frowned and then slightly smiled again. I said softly "I'm okay... I know we'll find her." he nodded and stood up. "We filled some pouches with water so you guys can get some sleep. I'll wake you in the morning." We nodded and Caleb nudged me with a soft smile and we both laid down and fell asleep.
