The Darkest Dragons

CHP. 19 "Gone again?"

I looked over to abelard and Caleb, they were both talking about hunting and whatnot while Jordan had started making a campfire. We had landed a few minutes ago by a river. There was a large clearing that fit all of our dragons. I looked at the sky, dark rainclouds were closing in fast. I nervously looked around. If the river flooded than that would not be good. I looked over at Abelard agin, he was looking up too. We made eyecontact and abelard turned to caleb and motioned for him to look and everything explaining the situation. When the dragons got back we made quit work cleaning and skinning the animals that were for us. The dragons tucked in but I felt Faaris nudge me, "Raine have you noticed the clouds? There is a large and dangerous storm coming." I nodded and said aloud to everyone." We need to find a safer place to stay, a cave maybe?" They nodded and we climbed onto our dragons and they picked up the kill and we went out searching. It only took 20 minutes before the storm broke. Huge gusts of wind beat down on us bringing tons of rainwater. It was icy cold and hard. It quickly got dark and I tried seeing the others but we were quickly getting seperated. I screamed out for Abelard but got nothing. I tried Jordan next and didn't get anything." I tried my link with them all and still no one responded. I saw something, I looked closer and found that rushing quickly towards us was a twister." Faaris roared and tried to turn away but before we could get away the pull tore Faaris's wings back and we were swept into the full blown tornado. For a second we were thrown into the eye of the storm and for a second everything became slower and sort of still before we were swept back into the current. I was whipped off of Faaris and before I could even scream a tree branch was knocked against my face knocking my vision out immediately. Limp I was thrown away out of the tornado, losing consiousness.

Once the storm broke I tried to find Faaris and Raine but The wind and sudden twister made me land. I had no Idea where everyone else was. I got seperated from Caleb too. I didn't even know where Jordan was and for some reason that also made me anxious. I called out looking for them but my voice was lost in the rain. Arian pushed me back under a fallen tree. We stood huddled his wing over me to shield me. We had no choice but to wait out the storm. Suddenl;y I heard Arian growl but when I looked out I saw Caleb. He was walking next to his dragon. I called out to him and he ran over to me and hugged me tight. He said, "I don't know where anyone else was and we had to land. I am so sorry but I couldn't find raine anywhere." I nodded and said, "I couldn't either, and I don't know where Jordan is." caleb mumbled, "Maybe they found each other?" I nodded and we curled up under our dragons wings. We would find them, I would not lose raine again.

I whipped around in the rain, the wind was strong but Raincloud was a very strong dragon and the wind didn't faze her. We were both soaked. I suddenly heard a roar and saw a huge and growing tornado, no matter how strong a dragon could be no one dragon is strong enough to fly into that. I patted her neck and she went down. We went to a particlarly thick grove of trees and it shielded us from the tornado. Before it even got to us it veered away to the right. I hope that Raine and Faaris got down safely. Raincloud shielded me from the rain with her wings and I said, "Maybe we should find some shelter and the others." Raincloud shook her head and responded sternly, "Jordan, We need to wait the storm out. It is too dangerous. I dropped my head in defeat and nodded. She swept her huge tail and I laid down and she covered us and I closed my eyes hoping for the best.

I opened my eyes to silence other than Rainclouds breathing. I sat up and it made Raicloud lift her head. She looked around and I could see the path of destructtion made by the tornado. I got up fully and stretched. Raincloud made a rumbling noise and I looked at her. She said, "HOld on let me dry you off, before you catch something." She took in a huge breathe and blew warm air into me. I laiughed as I was blown back a bit but I managed to stay upright. Once I was dry I got onto her back and we flew up into the air. I looked around and found two other dragons flying up. I flew over to them to find Caleb and Abelard." To my dread Raine was still missing. I went over to them and when I got close Abelard called over, "Have you seen Raine or Faaris?" I shook my head and replied calling, "I haven't I guess she's still out there." I felt a cold anxious feeling sweep over me and me and Raincloud went flying int the direction of the tornado. They might've been swept up inside it. We followed it and after 20 minutes I found a tangle of black limbs hidden under depree. I gasped and called them over. Arian cried out and we all shot down to the ground. Abelard and Arian set to work uncovering Faaris from the pile of branches and leaves. She groaned and made an awful whimpering noise. She wailed tragecly and I felt the feeling come back. I whispered, "She lost Raine." They al stopped to look at me and I said, "That's why she's wailing. She lost her in the storm!" I cried Raine's name and a soft very pained voice said in my head, "I lost her in the tornado, she was f-flung off my back." I looked at Faaris and she was staring at me." I put a hand on her head nad said, "Do you have any broken wings? Legs?" sHe shook her head and said, "My wing muscles were torn a bit but they'll be fine. I promise." I looked into her eyes for a bit and she blinked slowly. I nodded and climbed onto Raincloud, "I'll find her Faaris, I promise you that." She let Arian nudge her up and they gave her a bit of food and some water. I lifted off the ground and flew low looking for Raine. I searched for ages until I had to turn back. I said, "Guys I can't find her from the sky. We need to go out on foot and all split up." They all nodded and our dragons dried all of us off before we went out. I called out to her multipe times. I never got any responses but I still trekked out. I turned over every rock and limb trying to find her. We searched all day till it started to turn dark. We all returned to the clearing and I said, "Any sign of her at all?" They all shook their heads and even the dragons couldn't find her. I frowned and turned to go back out but Raincloud stopped me, "Jordan, you can't go back out. You need to eat and rest. Youve been looking all day." I said, "I need to find her." She nodded and said, "Tomorrow we will find her tomorrow." I yelled, "She might not make it tomorrow! I need to find her tonight... what if shes bleeding out or hurt and we just gave up?" She snarled at me, "Jordan we are not giving up! We are resting for the sake of our health! We will look first thing at dawn in the morning." I looked at her letting a few tears slide down my cheeks. I sniffed and whispered, "What will I do if she dies? What will I tell her Mother and Father? I kidnapped your daughter and then saved her but whoops I lost her and now shes dead?" I fell to my knees and burried my face in my hands. I lifted my ead though when I felt a hand on my shoulder, "Hey, we will find her, she's stronger than we think okay?" I looked at Abelard and said, "Yes she is but she's not at full health yet. She's hurt badly still." He nodded dand said, "That is why we will find her tomorrow." I sighed defeated and nodded. We made a quick camp and we ate what we could find. I looked out into the forest. We will find you okay Raine, just hold on."
