The Darkest Dragons

CHP. 2 "Adventure Awaits"

Havens P.O.V

I looked at Kain as I cried. I had been crying for about and hour and a half. We couldn't find Abelard and Raine. We had been searching for 3 hours. We had gone to Metin's and she had shown us for a brief moment where the children were. They were locked in a high vaulted dungeon. I had no idea where they were, we had already destroyed Mabuz's castle. I wiped my eyes and stood tall, we would find them, they were so helpless and innocent, they were only 12 years old, they were just too young... I looked towards Kain. He was talking to his family, we were all going to look for the children. Those poor lost children. Hang on Raine...Abelard... I'm coming.

Abelard's P.O.V

I carried Raine until we got out of the castle. My heart was beating 5 times faster than normal. My eyesight had increased dramatically and I could also feel the footsteps of the guards and hear their labored breathing. I looked down at Raine, me and her were twins, we shared a special bond, a bond I don't think anyone else had. I set her down and we got on our dragons. My dragon was calm as guards were running around. My dragon, Arian, was always calm when something bad was happening or if we needed to be somewhere important as fast as possible. I loved him dearly. I spoke to Raine through our special bond. I said "we're lost...How do we get home?" I looked over at her as we flew away as fast as we could. She shrugged and said "I have no idea, can our dragons tell?" Arian shook his smooth black head and he said in my mind, through a bond we received early, "I cannot tell which direction is home, the huge monster dragon choked us till we passed out." I gripped my shirt till it ripped slightly I wanted to scream. Raine said "Faaris doesn't know how to get home." I quickly replied "Arian doesn't know either." I sighed loudly. I looked around for a sign of home but for all we know we could be in an entirely different country. I looked at the ground. Everything was so bright. The sky, the trees, I saw water too. The water was a very bright turquoise. I nodded towards the small beautiful turquoise pond. Raine followed my gaze and we landed next to the pond. It was beautiful and once we landed we got off the dragons, we walked towards the water. When I looked into the water I found that it was very deep. Deeper than I thought possible for a small pond. The water was so clear that I saw the bottom. I walked over to root from one of the huge trees growing on the outer edge of the safe Haven. I smiled as I sat down, this place was nice. I looked towards Raine and Faaris. They were talking about how we were going to get home. I sighed and looked around. This safe haven was in a bowl like place, the walls of the bowl were rocky and had roots from the trees above growing out of them. In the middle and to the right there was a smallish pond. It was a beautiful place. We could hear all the different birds singing. If we weren't just kidnapped I would think this was a perfect day. I looked up at the skies, there were huge sky dragons flying in and out of my vision. I stood when one of them landed. She was twice the size of my dragon, huge with brilliant white feathers with streaks of blue and a soft yellow. Her tail was very long and could probably curl around her body twice. Her head was so beautiful, very soft looking and inviting. I stepped forward and Arian growled. I put out a hand palm down and he immediately obeyed. I couldn't help but be cautious since we had just been kidnapped. Faaris and raine stalked over to stand beside me. I looked towards the dragon and she dipped her head low to the ground and flared her wings. She said in a velvety voice "Hello, Prince. Princess." I was a bit startled, she knew who we were. I stepped forward again and said "You have us at a disadvantage, you know who we are but we do not know who you are. She lifted her head and said "I am guardian of the skies, I watch over everything, you may think that we are a new species, but we are not, we are a species that has been here way before the five "Original." my name is Nut." I dipped my head to Nut, I said "Well, it is an honor to be in your presence, we could use some help, you see, we were stolen, kidnapped, and we are terribly lost, can you help us get home?" the dragon lowered her head and touched my chest. She jumped back and said "You were kidnapped by The Dark One! oh dear, he's back..." I looked at Raine, she said "Just who is the Dark one?" Nut looked towards Raine and stepped towards her. "The dark one is named Stryker he is the son of Mabuz, Mabuz was killed by his brother, your father Kain. Mabuz was a very evil man, he kidnapped your mother many times.  He even tortured her by making her go through three stages. We've told her story since the day she returned home and was proclaimed Queen. She had to fight and kill a huge mountain dragon, starved and beaten, she then had to go through a jungle filled with pythons and starved forest dragons, the last stage was the hardest. She had to jump across 15 floating rocks, floating above a dark void, a void that's never-ending. Mabuz watched as she struggled but your mother is strong and she beat every stage, she then got out of that terrible place as your father killed Mabuz. Mabuz had already had a son though, he loved his unborn son even if his heart was cold and black. Stryker was filled with hate when your parents managed to get away from and when he heard that they had killed Mabuz. He wanted your whole family dead. He kidnapped you to get to Kain, and Haven. He went so far as to breed dragons together to try and make a new species. He succeeded. He has created dragons so evil that it hurts to look at them. They are the definition of darkness itself. Their scales are so black they blend into the shadows and the night sky. Their skin smokes making them look like a shadow. There is only one of his kind but Stryker is trying to breed more. We dragons call them Darkness Dragons. The most evil of them all. I have been trying to stop Stryker but I am not powerful enough. I need help. Before I take you home, and I will, I need your help, every dragon alive needs your help. We must stop Stryker. Please, Raine, Abelard, please help us." I looked towards Raine, she nodded and said in my mind "Everything she said...it's true. So agonizingly true, I saw some of the things Stryker has done, he has killed dragons, kidnapped dragons, breed dragons... And so much more. We have to do something, we don't have time to go home we need to do something NOW." I nodded but said "We're only 12, what can a couple of 12 year olds do to save every dragon new or old?" she turned to look at Nut, She said in a determined voice. "I want you to know that Mabuz was not my dads brother, they had been close like brothers once but not in the end. We will help you but, we are only 12, we can't do much without training, take us to where you have been hiding all these decades. We need your help if we are to help you." Nut nodded and she said "Get on Faaris, Abelard hurry, get on Arian." we need to leave quickly." We both nodded and got on our dragons, we took off quickly following the beautiful guardian.

Raine's P.O.V

We flew after Nut, Faaris was on a rant about how we should go back home instead of following this ran down dragon who needed our help to destroy Mabuz's son. I blocked her out and focused on trying to contact our parents. I sighed as I heard nothing. Metin had made us these devices and they were supposed to let us communicate over long distances. We must be way to far away. I looked towards Abelard and Arian, they were flying close to nut, it was kind of funny really, it seems that Arian had a dragon crush on Nut. I wonder how that would turn out... I turned my gaze away to look at the ground, some thousand feet below us. We were rapidly ascending into the clouds and I wondered how far up the sky dragons lived. Suddenly we broke through a patch of clouds and suddenly there were millions of sky dragons. There were white dragons with yellow streaks, white dragons with blue streaks, all kinds of colors. I was in awe. My jaw dropped at the sight of a beautiful plane, it was suspended in the sky on top of clouds. There were vines and trees and mini water falls that fell into magical ponds that never overflowed. I only knew that because we had some in our castle. I closed my mouth and we descended to land on top of a big platform near the edge of the plane. We followed Nut over to a group of sky dragons and people with strikingly beautiful white hair and blue eyes. I saw a girl walk up to Nut and stroke her feathered red face. Me and Abelard got off our dragons and we approached the girl and nut. The girl turned to look at us and we could feel the power radiating off of her just like the power coming from mother. This power wasn't as large but it was there. We both knelt on the floor and waited. She touched my shoulder and I stood. I watched as she touched Abelard's shoulder too. We both stood before her again and she said "Hello, Nut has told me that you two were coming, I am so glad we finally have someone to help us. I am Skyler, rider of the guardian dragon. I am so honored to have the Prince and the princess of the dragons in my care!" she dipped her head to each of us and continued "We must start your training immediately, you will be training with two guards and one person of your age, just so you can both improve." She stepped back and whistled. I thought my eardrums would pop but after a moment I could hear normally. I looked towards skyler and she winced and said "Sorry, I forget how loud I can whistle." four guards came over followed by a boy and a girl. There was two male guards and two female guards. Skyler said something to them quietly and the girl walked over to me and the boy walked over to Abelard, a female and a male guard walked towards me and a female and male guard walked over to Abelard. Skyler said "every morning at dawn you all will meet out here, you will train first with weapons, then you'll train with fists, only when you have mastered on foot will you train on dragons. You dragons will be training with Nut, she will train them both. Dinner is with me at the big building, I'm sure your guards will get you there. Dinner is in 5 hours." with that said she walked away, Arian nudged Abelard and Abelard stroked his cheek before Arian left to follow Nut, Faaris wrapped her tail around me and I kissed her cheek before looking into her bright purple eyes. I said "I'll be fine, don't worry about me, get stronger and I'll see you in 5 hours." Faaris let go and she flew after Nut and Arian. I turned to look at Abelard, he looked any me and we pressed the back of our hands together before nodding and finally looking toward our guards. My Male guards looked very young, maybe 20 or so, the female guard had the same features but she was maybe 25 or so." the girl was my age but the only difference in her features was that her eyes were very light blue almost silver. I smiled at them and the Male guard stepped forward first he said in a light voice "Hello, I am Ryan, I will be your trainer to teach you how to use a bow and how to throw knives and swords, you will also learn how to throw spears on your dragon. He stepped back and I nodded towards him, the female stepped forward and smiling she said "I am Luna, I will teach you swordsmanship and how to sneak and teach you all the skills of an assassin. You'll need those skills trust me." I nodded and she stepped back. I turned to the girl she stepped forward and said "Hello, I am iris, I will be helping you practice each of your skills. I am top of my class and I have already mastered each of these skills. I am just like you and I'm sure we will be friends. I will also be doing mock fights with you. To test you." I nodded and smiled. Ryan stepped forward and said "I've never seen a dragon like that, what dragon do you have?" I smiled and said "My dragon is an obsidian dragon, she is the only one of her kind other than Arian that we know of. My mother sent out a search for obsidian dragons but we never found any. We are updated regularly about dragons. They all smiled and Luna said "I can't wait to figure out what kind of skills or powers she has.  oh I just can't wait!" I laughed and Ryan said "Well, let's get started."
