Raine's POV
We flew quietly, no one had the heart to speak. Everything was so confusing. Every new answer only lead to more questions. Everything seemed to complicated now.
What were the keys for? How was I supposed to get the crown? How were we supposed to face and defeat this darkness dragon? The odds seemed to be against us, even with all of the dragon-magic items.
Farris rumbled beneath me and sent feelings of sympathy and strength.
"I know Faaris, I should try to be a bit more positive. Maybe we will figure all of this out." She nodded and offered a bit of encouragement,
"If anyone can figure this all out, it's you Raine. I trust you, you are going to be the next Dragon Queen! You can do anything. I've seen it happen with my own two eyes. Everything we've been through together, I know it will be okay in the end. Have faith my dear soul. Together we can do anything."
I smiled and lay down forward, stroking her neck and side. We continued flying over the forests. Soon, in the distance, we saw mountains to our right. We must be getting close to the coast. To home.
Tears pricked my eyes just at the thought of seeing my mother and father again. If I really was going to die... I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Then maybe we could figure it all out together.
It took us till dusk to get to the coast and when we did we were hailed by large forest dragons. They brought us down on a large stone platform and we all dismounted. Tired and weary from our long flight. The general posted bowed low and knelt on one knee.
"Prince! Princess! We have long awaited your return home! Come quickly! Follow me." He turned and we were all four nudged forward by our dragons. We followed him down and around a corner before suddenly we were engulfed in a bone crushing hug.
My exhaustion melted away at the sound of my Mother. I quickly returned the hug quickly, sobbing out.
"My baby!! You're home! You.. you're finally home." Her voice broke and she clutched to me as if I would disappear again right then and there. Soon she let me go and held me out. She cupped a hand against my cheek and sighed, tears streaking her face. Her eyes had dark circles underneath them and she looked pale and thin.
"I missed you so much baby. We saw... we saw so much. The things you went through. Oh my baby girl." She clutched me to her chest again before catching sight of Abelard. She moved to hug him and in turn her place was filled once more.
"Oh darling.. come here." My father engulfed me in a hug and kissed my head. He was weeping softly and held me tight but gently. His large hand held my face and he smiled shakily.
"You're so beautiful. So g-grown up now huh?" I smiled and hugged him around his neck. He tucked his face into me and sighed.
We stayed like that for a long time. Suddenly Mother cooed,
"You must be the boy we saw. You have gotten quite close to Abelard haven't you?" Caleb blushed deeply and offered a scared smile,
"Y-your highness! I am- my name is- call me-" he bowed deeply stumbling over his words and Abelard got up and moved to hold Caleb's hand. They smiled at each other happily,
"This is Caleb, Momma." She smiled warmly and brought them both in for a hug,
"Welcome to our Home, Caleb. And you too... we may not understand everything yet, but I've seen your actions. I've seen how you look at my daughter. In the morning we will be able to become better acquainted. Let's go home.
We turned to see our dragons nestled under Aradace And Briggan's wings. They were crooning and warbling, happy to see their dragonets too. We all mounted our dragons and followed Mother and Father, Naturally leading us home. Home... we were finally back!
