SECOND CHANCES - Forgiving Isn't Always Easy

Chapter twenty: Thoughts

Here is the new chapter. And just to let you know, yes you will have tons of questions, but they will be answered throughout the book, as flashbacks or talks of the members. Either way, it will all make sense.

"Explain to me against why is this meeting still happening?"- she questioned him, crossing her arms and crooking her head right.

" I already told you. Where is your head?"- he asked with an exasperated look in his face; whilst leaning back in his chair.

"At home with my child."- she simply stated.

" She is my child too but you can't use her as an excuse any more. Don't interrupt me!"- he said when she opened her mouth to talk, though his tone was gentle. Sighing he added:

"It's been two months Selen. She is alright."- he repeated himself for the who knows how many thousand time it was.

" I know, "- she sighed and sat down in one of the chairs in front of Alex's desk.

" I just.."- she started fidgeting with her fingers while trying to gather her train of thought.

"You just worry too much. I do too, but this can't go on any longer. We have to let go of this anxiety, this constant worry. She is fine. She has even entered kindergarten again."

"I know.. I know.. But still I.."

"No but-s, no if-s, no maybe-s. She is perfectly fine. Happier even. You need to stop worrying and start living a normal life again. Stop hoovering over her."- he said that too for the who knows how many thousand time.

Letting air blow out of her mouth in a surrendered kind of way, she said:

" You're right. You're right!"- the she got up.

"I'll focus on work and I won't think 24/7 on Hope. She is fine and I have to let go of the bad days. "- deep breath. -" tell me about this meeting again."- she finished, taking a seriously listening pose, you know the kind school students take when they want to make believe their teacher that their mind is there and not at the next class girl with the short skirt, or the boy with the 6 pack.

"Technically this meeting was to be held nearly a month ago, but there have been some issues. Due to bad weather, and well hurricanes, the place has been on lock down and repairs. Finally everything is quiet again and they have finished restoring all that was damaged. So now we can attend to it."- he said that last part as if explaining to a child who didn't speak English.

" I'm no child, or did you miss that when you impregnated me?"- she thought to herself but dared not voice them out. After all, she had behaved a bit childish, but what could she do. Her child was involved.

"Okay. So the company will go to their hotel and attend. Great. I'll prepare the file and you tell me who do I give it to."- she said hurrying to get out of there before she heard words she knew she would dread.

" Selen you have no way out of this. As my PA you are to be there. So prepare a valise for this weekend. We are flying there at 6 pm. "- he said and opened a file in front, faking like he wasn't laughing inside at the face he knew she had on right now, eyes wide , mouth dropped and all.

" B-but.."

"A- a- A,"- he said shaking his index finger side ways, -" No but-s, no if-s, no maybe-s."

"But.."

"You have merely a couple of hours, so I suggest you use them to prepare your valise. As for Hope, need not worry. I have arranged for two nannies, one of which is my  own, and for Maria to be by her side. Also a nurse will be with there, just in case and because I know you'll just eat my ears off worrying if I didn't. So as you see my dear PA, there is no place for but-s, if-s, maybe-s. No please go and send the file Daniel mailed me down to Human Resources."

Huffing loudly, she left the room.

"So you see there is no place for but-s, if-s, maybe-s!"- she said in a mocking voice, waving her hands in the air.  Unfortunately , being as busy as she was impersonating her boss and baby daddy, she didn't notice that he had followed her out.

" Akhem."- he fake caughed and she froze, wide eyed.

"oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!"- she thought as she closed her eyes shut, wishing that voice was her imagination and not really him.

" Selen Heartfelt, were you just mocking me?"- he said and from the way his breath brushed against her neck, he was standing right beside her. She  sprung around, trying to contradict, only bad mistake. She turned to face those grey eyes staring right into her blue orbs and without even noticing, she held her breath. Alex took one step forward and she took one back. He took another forward and she took another back. This went on till her lower back was pressed  flat against her desk; so when he came to stand impossibility close, she had no choice but to lean back.  Only she hadn't counted for him leaning into her too, until they were nose to nose. Her hands were gripping the sides of the desk, holding for dear life. However from the intensity of his stare and the nervousness that had plagued her mind and body, her hands slipped, so the only solution in those seconds of panic was to grip the first thing she could to hold on from falling backwards into the chair. And seeing how unlucky she had been lately, it could be no less than the sides of his jacket. And to make matters worse, her action brought her closer to him, and his hands to her back.

"we'll congratulations Selen! You managed to put a new level to awkward and clumsy!"- she thought to herself but was soon too distracted by his stare, which traveled from  her eyes to her mouth, to keep that trail of thought. She quickly found herself doing the same. Hell how she wished to kiss those lips again.

" S-Se-len"- Alex breathed out, which caused his breath to cares her face and neck, and for his lips to brush up against her. Just one teeny tiny move and they'd be kissing.

"Kiss me!"- too bad she only thought that to herself.
