Selen Pov:

No, no no!! What had she done? Her eyes had widen and so had his. Alex stood in front of her, completely frozen, speechless; as if a bombed had been placed in his hand and he wanted to shake it off  but it weighted more than he could handle.  She could see the shock in his eyes. Dear Lord! What had she done! Her heart was beating so fast, all previous anger, frustration forgotten, replaced now by a urge to turn back time and get  the hell out of there.

“What did you say?’

“I-I…. Akhem… I-I m-mean y-you were going to h-have a b-baby.”- desperate attempt.

“You said I was a father..”- he was not buying it. Of course not. She herself didn’t buy her words and she had made them up.

“Y-Yes, well.. I meant that you were going to have a baby,”- she quickly got up. Alex didn’t pursue the matter any longer which relieved her, but not her heart.

“ Look Selen, I…

“ No need to explain. I get it. I was a one time thing for you. One night stand! It’s in the title really. But don’t expect me to forgive you. You are my boss and I need the job. That being said, if there isn’t anything else I can do for you sir, I’d like to take my leave,” – shakingly shs concluded and without waiting for a reply, she made her way out the door.

Selen sunk into her seat, hand over hands, resting on her desk. She couldn’t believe what was happening. Just that morning she had been so happy, yet the past hour had been a nightmare, and the day had just begun…

She didn’t have time to sulk on her misery much longer, as her phone rang. Pulling herself together , she answered.

“Hello, how can I help you?”

….

After several minutes, she was finally able to hang up the phone. Apparently the lady on the other side was fond of work time chats, and the simple fact if never having met  made no difference what-so-ever. Though chatty over there had been a pain… she had given important messages, which she now had to transfer to her boss. Deep breath! She could do it!

Pulling what had remained of her strength together, she knocked on the door.

“Come in,”- his deep masculine voice rang through the closed door.  Slowly she opened it. Alex was in his seat, papers in front though she could tell he hadn’t touched them at all. As soon as she entered, she felt his eyes on her. She had been angry with those eyes for so long, had hated them for so long, had wished to see them and scream all her hurt and pain, but now… Now she couldn’t help but notice that same storm as four years ago.

“Diana, or whatever her name is, informed that the nee file on the latest project has been sent to your email. Also the restaurant has been booked for the business dinner this evening,”- she concluded. Alex had now taken a formal and serious look, and seemed genuinely focused on every word that came out of her mouth.

“Well than, bring me the file on project ****** and prepare yourself.”- Alex concluded, opsning his laptop, to read the email, se deducted.

“Prepare myself?”- she didn’t understand, but then it hit her.

“yes, you are my assistant, and as such you must attend this dinner with me.”

“Right... Well if that was all…

“You may go,”- this time he didn’t look up, which bothered her.

Alex Pov:

He had been sitting in his chair for several minutes now. What an day it had been, and it was still 10 am. Selen’s words rang through his ears ‘you are a father’ ,and something about that sentence had hit him hard. Her explanation had seemed logical at the time, but made less sense with every passing minute. He didn’t have time to dwell on the recent events , as a soft, barely hearable knock on the door caught his ear.

“Come in,”- he heard himself say. Seconds later she entered his office and he couldn’t help but stare. When he had first met her today he hadn’t been able to fully look at her, as thoughts had been plaguing his mind. But now, now he could admire her every centimeter. God she was beautiful! Just as he remembered her. Alex wanted to lose himself in the sight of her, but knew full well he couldn’t. so as the strong willed man he was, he managed to get her out of his head and focus on her words, instead of her lips.

The rest of that day went by easy. Alex drowned himself in work and tried to get her out of hid mind, though he constantly found himself in the ongoing process. His mind seemed to stop obeying his orders  and wander on her own. Memories of their timed together reminisced his mind. Instead of flashbacks, it was as if he was relieving them all over again  and he couldn’t help but notice how all those feelings he had head for her before, came rushing in.

“Yes,” he finally answered his phone, after seven missed calls. He had been so in his head that e had lost touch with reality.

“How’s work babe?”- Vivian’s voice rang through the phone.

“Normal,”- though this day was far from it.

“Made plans for tonight, dinner…

“Cant. I have a meeting ”- he cut her off. He hadn’t meant to sound so harsh, but that was the truth.

“With whom? “- as usual, Vivian needed to check.

“Vivian, next time I cheat on you, I’ll let you know!”- he hang up the phone.  damn! He didn’t like talking harsh to her  but that was really getting on his nerves. Vivian hadn’t been able to accept his confession, four years ago; and though Alex had suggested it many times, she hadn’t want to end the relationship either. He wasn’t a man to tolerate jealousy, but he felt guilty towards her. Guilty for not loving her  for  not having been the man she deserved. Something had changed in their relationship, ever since he had met Selen. No, actually before that. Alex had never wanted to get married  have a family  as the notion was foreign to him  but Vivian had been a family friend and favorite, and  somehow she always found a way to keep their relationship going  though it was crawling like a dead zombie without legs, up a hill, in the snow!

Alex left late that night, and he headed straight for the restaurant. Selen wasn’t at her desk, so he gathered she had gone home to prepare, after all he had called her previously to let her know of the important-cy of this meeting.  He was early, so he took a seat, and eyed the place. It was a delightful room, he thought. Music in the background, colorful yet not vulgar decoration  and great whine. Just as he was enjoying another sip, his eyes were captivated by what he saw…
