You and Dan have been dating for seven months, and not once have you mentioned your greatest fear.
At the moment, you and Dan were playing video games. Phil was out getting the shopping done.
What game were you playing? Well first you were playing Mario Kart 8, then you moved to Call Of Duty Modern Warfare, now you're playing Overwatch.
You heard the slight rumble of thunder and tensed up slightly, somehow earning you another kill.
"You're really good at this." Dan said.
"Thanks." You mumbled.
The thunder grew louder, Dan paused the game and looked around.
"Phil should be home by now. What's taking him forever."
"I've been home, you two have been too focused to pay attention." Phil said, startling you both.
The thunder then boomed, causing you to let out a small, quiet, yet audible squeak of fear.
Dan noticed your posture and gave you a look, "Are you alright?"
"Perfect, couldn't be better!"
"Are you sure?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"You're acting like your ex found out where you live and is going to come murder you." Phil said bluntly.
You shot him a look and stood up, heading to your room of the shared flat.
You locked the door and hid in the closet, trying to keep your calm about the situation, but every time the thunder boomed, you would get even more scared.
Dan noticed the off behavior and decided to investigate. He noticed that your door was locked, but opened.
In the midst of your fear you didn't shut the door and lock it, instead you locked the door and left it open.
He walked inside and heard your hyperventilating from the closet.
"(Y/N)? Are you in there?"
"Y-y-y-y-yes..."
"Why don't you come out?"
"I'm straight."
"Smart ass."
"Yep!"
The thunder boomed and you let out a whimper, Dan realized the situation and opened the closet door, picking you up and setting you on the bed. He wrapped you in a blanket and held you close to him.
"The thunder won't hurt you."
"I know, but the thunder reminds me of tornados and tornados remind me of Texas and Texas reminds me of home and home reminds me of my family that died when a tornado hit."
"You're scared it'll happen up here?"
"Yeah..."
"You don't have to be afraid, I'm here."
"Thank you Dan."
"I'm here for you."
He kissed the top of your head and smiled as the rain started tapping against the windows, creating the melody of nature.
