Swimming always came easy to me.
Paddling with perfect cups formed by my hands, in circular motions.
A beautiful technique that kept you safe above the depths of the blue.
What happens when those arms feel more like bricks that are too heavy to lift.
What happens when the strokes from each arm just suddenly stop.
Battling yourself to take one more stride to get closer to the side but the heaviness starts to feel unbearable.
That's when you begin to sink.
You try to scream but it is masked by the water filling your mouth.
You try to use your arms but now your legs also feel heavy.
You become so vulnerable, and become okay with the thought that this may be your last breath because no one is there to help. What if there wasn't ever an actual body of water.
No pools, seas, oceans or even bathtubs around.
Reality is you're in your room sitting on the bed, but you're sinking.
Into the deep dark depths of depression.
Drowning in emotion and sorrows that cant be explained.
Swimming always came easy to me,
happiness did at one time as well.
