With two days left to go of their trip, Aaron and Atlantis had decided that it was time to go to the Eiffel Tower. They had been putting it off, not that they didn't want to go, but they wanted it to be memorable.
Each night Aaron had been holding Atlantis close to him, as though she would blow away like sand in the wind if he didn't. She had never felt safer before, and being in his arms gave her the comfort that she needed through the rest of the trip.
They didn't go to the tower mid-day when it would most be crowded, but instead at dusk, where they could enjoy each other's company and the view of the city. The streets they walk along are illuminated by strayed lamp posts, the glow falling over their faces like the moonlight. Couples walk down the side walks, enjoying each other's company, just like the young pair that had been on a a trip for months. Atlantis has her arms wrapped around one of Aaron's, her head resting on his arm as she is much too short to reach his shoulder. He had ditched the suits early when they reached Paris and is now dressed as the young man that he is, a pair of khakis and a comfortable shirt are what he is clad in. Aaron had told Atlantis to dress casual, though she couldn't help but dress in a floral sun dress that she had been saving for just the right time. As always, Aaron had complimented the young girl that she looked beautiful before they went on their way.
As they approach the moonlit tower, Atlantis can't help but marvel in the beauty. Yes, she has been staying across the street from them large art sculpture for a week or so, by it's nothing compared to being up close.
They took the stairs, all the way to the top of the tower that over viewed the city known as Paris.
"I could live in this moment forever, holding you." Aaron's lips move against the side of he young girls head, the sensation creating tingles. His hands wrapped around Atlantis' tiny waist, one that had shrunk in the weeks that passed. It worried Aaron, but he wouldn't say anything until it became alarming.
"We have to go back at some point Aaron, it's late and I am still not over the jet lag." They had been standing on the outlook for what must have been about twenty minutes, but in their imaginations felt something like hours.
Aaron spun Atlantis around in his embrace so that she is facing the older man. His eyes scan hers, the night lights reflecting off of them.
"Atlantis.. will you," he trails off as if he's trying to find words. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
Aaron had had always been a awkward one, but around Atlantis, his confidence came out like it was always there. In this case, he had been working up the courage to ask her for what seemed like forever.
Atlantis takes a few moments to study the older mans face. He is calm, looking down at her with the most loving look she had probably ever seen him give her.
"Why did you wait until now to ask me?" She questions, raising a eyebrow. Aaron looks taken aback by her question at first, but quickly composes himself.
"Well I- I was waiting for the right time." He nervously glances around their surroundings, wondering what is running through Atlantis' mind. She smirks at his response.
"Then yes, my struggling writer that loves adventure, I will be your girlfriend." His eyes snap back to hers and he quickly leans in to place a tender kiss on her lips. It's as though all of her insecurities were wiped away and it was just them.
"Should we head back?" Atlantis breathes as they lean their foreheads against each other, drowning in the loving moment.
"We should."
The pair walk back to the hotel, hand in hand. It seems that at night in the summer, everything is a lot cooler, the wind always seeming to be present. Atlantis couldn't care though, she was on cloud nine. Never had she been so happy in her life. Though she knew that it would all come to a end on day.
When Aaron found out more about her, the deep stuff that she would never tell anyone, he would leave, it was just that simple. But for now, she would live in this moment with him. She couldn't ask for anything more and as they walk back to the grand hotel, she knows that she is safe.
The bellman nods his head as the couple enters the hotel. He had been there when they left as well, and Atlantis appreciated how happy he always looked. It took them almost no time to get back to their room, laughing and smiling at memories and stories.
Aaron always had this sense of humour and fun about him, but it must be his storytelling. The dark hotel room in which they had been residing in for the past week seemed larger than Atlantis remembered. But then again it could just be that she was love drunk.
Aaron doesn't wast time to walk up to the young girl and kiss her like the world was ending. She smiles onto the kiss and wraps her arms around his neck. They walk backwards into the bedroom and the light of the Eiffel Tower shines through the windows, the perfect illuminating glow for love.
