As it began to become dark I change out of my armour and into a simple white shirt with a brown vest over it and black pants with my usual boots. Up in the Guard Tower I fold my clothe part of my armour and place it into my corner with my bag. Behind me I hear someone walking into the room. I turn my head with a confused look on my face.
I see Laurance with his bold eyes starring at back at me. An angered look covered his face, the shadows enhancing his features. "....What happened?" I ask him. He stalks over to the table and slams his sword. It echoed through out the room, causing the table to vibrate. "I-I don't know, Shay." He growls, a dark, mysterious aura surrounded him. It seemed familiar, like a ashy substance, the Nether. My mood suddenly drops. Rejoice to despair. I feel Laurance's eyes soften. "Shay....?" His voice was now shaking. Fear clouded his eyes, "I'm sorry...." I mustered, not knowing why I just said such useless words. "No. Don't be." Laurance whispers as he strokes my cheek with his flaming hand. Tears began to roll down my cheeks. His words play again, and again in the back of my thought. I love Aphmau, not you. I know that those were not what he exactly said to me, but I couldn't help but to interpret those words like that. I place my hand on top of his. "Laurance.... I know that you are going through Hell right now. But don't use me." My tone turns bitter. His eyes filled with grief, not rage. "I'm sorry." I hear him mutter as he turns from me. I turn from him and to the window. I swipe my bangs out of my teary eyes. The stars danced in the sky. "Get some sleep." I force out as I waked past Laurance. I hear him shuffling around, putting things away and cleaning up.
I decide to find Aaron. To see him again before he leaves Phoenix Drop. I walk along the path and sneak into the trees. Through the trees I see a dim light as I walked towards the ocean. The light became brighter as I came closer.
Near the fire was Aaron with a stick in his hand with a bird stabbed through it. "Good evening Aaron!" I call out to him as I now sprint over. He looks up to me with a certain feeling radiating from him. It felt like I was home, with family again. "Evening." Responds Aaron then rips a piece of meat off. In his hands, the meat was nicely cooked. "Try it." He demands. I take the meat from him and eat it. The taste was bland and a hint of pine. "It's okay." I sigh as I spit out a bone into my hand. "Okay? Sheesh I thought you'd think it would be great." Jokes Aaron, "Oh. Wow, what happened to serious Aaron." I snicker as I sit in the spiky, brown grass. We than chatted for a while. We talked about life to what we are planning to do in the future. It was kind of hard to talk about because both of us have no idea what we are going to do with our lives.
But a thought lingered in my throat, waiting for the right moment to ask. "Aaron." I say, stopping him mid sentence. "Yes...?" He growls at me. I feel my grief rise up. Tears began to swell up in my eyes. "I want a full answer." I say with a hint of regret in my voice. "What. What happened to him, Raphael." I force those words out with all my might. Aaron fell silent, bitter. A couple of minutes have passed. Aaron's posture turns stiff.
Aaron's POV:
The snow began to come down harder, my finger began to freeze and the moon and stars covered by a thick blanket of clouds.
"GET HIM!" I hear a low growl from over the trees, I spot footprints with a trail of blood mixed with the white snow. Adrenaline took over. What has happened?! I have to keep that brat alive for Shay, I need to.
I sprint, tearing through the trees with my sword in hand, blood dripping from my cheeks from the sharp, icy tree branches. I see three Werewolves with their claws out, bearing their teeth at Raphael. He stood there with two black knives in his hands, a rip in his clothing, and blood oozing everywhere.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing!" I shout at those monsters. They turn their heads, glowing, dead eyes. No hint of life left.
I grip my sword tighter and charge in, my boots staggered into the ground as I launched myself at the closest one. My blade rips through their heart and shove the carcass to the ground. From what I saw Raphael managed to behead one of them.
The last one cowarded away to it's pack.
To my right I hear coughing, some type of liquid being coughed on top of the snow. I turn my head to see a pool of blood around Raphael as he layed in the snow, a greyish colour replaced his once olive skin tone. He was in shock. I rip off my jacket and rap it over his wounds and pull his head on to my knee.
"W-Why....are you....doing this?" Raphael spews out, words slowly fading. "For Shay." Was all what I could say. Tears fell down his cheeks. "Tell. Tell her that I love her more than anything." He whispers as the light left his eyes. Out of rage I threw my sword at a tree, my blade teared through a branch.
Shay's POV:
I sat there shocked, hearing those words from Aaron. I felt so much guilt for him. "A-Aaron..." I couldn't hold back my emotions anymore. I grip the bandana around my wrist. "I couldn't do anything." I hear him mutter under his breath. "No. Don't say that." I hiss at him. I look up at him with sharp eyes. "You know Aaron. When Raphael and I were young..... We would talk about how we thought we would die. He always said he wanted to die protecting me and in some way, he did." I state a placed my hands on my knees. "There is something that you should know." Aaron says out loud. "Go on." I force out, now wanting to leave. "Raphael.... He was in love with you. He told me as his final words." Aaron responds, with an unreadable expression. I didn't know what to say. I cover my face with my hands and began to sob. A force of loneliness took over, an everlasting emotion that everyone feels. I feel a warm hand placed on top of my head. I look up to see Aaron looking into my eyes with his firey black eyes. "You'll get through it." I hear Aaron whisper to me as he wraps his arm around me and allowed me to cry into his shoulder. I then silently slipped away into sleep.
