I could see Phoenix Drop down a hill. It seems like not much has changed. As I got off my horse, I look into the sky to see that the sun was setting. "Time to go Jiriya." I say as I tapped the horse and scaring Jiriya away so nobody else would see my newly made friend. I slowly made my way to the where the shops were at of Phoenix Drop.
"Well, well, well. Looks like you decided to come back Apple Girl." Says Logan as he was closing up his shop. "Apple Girl?" I asked him because I couldn't believe that someone just called me, Apple Girl. "What? You're the one who bought the rest of my apples." Snaps Logan. I felt greatly on edge. So I decided to leave.
As I was walking down the path, past the 'Babe House' (as Aphmau has called it), I hear footsteps following me. I turn around to see Garroth looking directly at me. "Shay where have you been?" Garroth asks me sternly. "Nowhere." I replied with The Tone. "Tell me know." He says, sounding angrier. "Why? Why should I tell you?" I asked him, trying my best to hold back the tears. Garroth comes up closer and touched the black bandana wrapped around my neck, "Where did you get this?" He finally asks me. I yank myself away from him. I saw a quick glance of disappointment in his blue eyes. "Huh. What's going on out here...?" Asks Aphmau as I see her standing on the hill, leading up to her small wooden house. "Nothing Aphmau." I responded, quickly. "Garroth tell me what's going on?" Aphmau asks as she turns to him. In a couple of sentences Aphmau turns to me. I was frightened at first, then that led to relief. "I went to Falcon Claw." I stated. "Shay now tell us how you get that bandana?" Garroth asks me. I narrow my eyes up at him. "Stop it. Stop it Garroth." I hissed. I saw Aphmau looked confused and Garroth looked shocked. "I am done." Garroth says as he walks out of there. There was an awkward silence between Aphmau and I. "Shay tell. It seems like you know Garroth already." Says Aphmau. I turn to her, "It doesn't matter anymore." I muttered and I walked out of there.
On the steps of the library I saw a female with long blonde hair and was reading a book with a worn cover. She stares at me as I walk past her. "Hi." I greet her awkwardly. "Hello, I'm Emmalyn," she replied while hiding her face behind her book now. "Nice to meet to Emmalyn. I'm Shay." I said, to starting a conversation. "Have you read the Dawn Chronicles?" She asks me, sounding excited. "Yes. I love that series." I said and Emmalyn's face seemed to brighten up. We both started to talk about our favourite characters and plot twists.
The main character is female named Elentiya, she fought in so many strange lands, and faced so much grief. But she was able to pull through, and find her kingdom with her court.
I remember mother helped me read. All the words jumbled together, and were odd to look at.
It was growing late now. The sun was beginning to set. "Sorry Emmalyn I have to go now." I said while standing up. "Oh one last question. I've seen you here before, you have black hair. Why is it now silver or a whitish colour?" Emmalyn asks me. I look at her blankly, "I don't know. Good question" I said, shrugging and walking out if there. I saw Emmalyn smile.
As I was walking down the path, I saw a shadowy figure in front of me. "Hello...." I called out. It turns around, it's green eyes were staring into mine. I felt my face blush. "No it can't be...." I whisper to myself. I felt myself turn around and try to run away. Instead the figure grabs me by the arm and pins me up against a wall of a house. ".... How could you..." Growls the figure at me, spitting in my face. He pulls his swords up against my throat, I could feel the green blade skim my neck and a small amount of blood dripped. "LAURENCE!" I heard Aphmau shout in the distance. Laurence then drops his sword. In short time Aphmau comes sprinting over with Garroth. I suppose those two were chatting with each other, close by.
"Shay. What is going on?" Garroth asks me. "You know her?!" Snaps Laurence. Aphmau was starting helping me treat my injuries. "Aphmau....Stop." I began while I pulled her away. "What do you mean?" She asks me, a small ounce of panic was clearly in her eyes. "Why do you want to help me? You haven't known me for long. And....." I started to tear up. Laurence was watching, then turns to me. "Explain yourself."
I explained to them how Sasha was still alive, I showed them the amulet we shared that Laurence first gave to us before we entered the Nether. Next I told them that Garroth and I were just childhood friends. "So you never killed Sasha?" Laurence asks me. "No the Shadow Knights just set the whole thing up." I responded, while trying to stay calm. "I see..." Garroth says, looking lost in thought. "Shadow Knights?" Aphmau asks me. "Aphmau in time you will learn of Shadow Knights." I told her. "Why can't you tell us." Laurence asks me. "This." I said while taking the fingerless glove off of my left hand, there was an insignia that had a symbol of silence. "I see... Shay we'll discuss this later." Says Aphmau as she started to walk out of there with Garroth. They left Laurence and I alone. I turn away from him. "I think it would be best if we...." I started. Suddenly I felt Laurence place his hand onto my shoulder. I think you knew this whole time how I was secretly in love. A serious glow was in his eyes. I didn't love him for his looks, his voice. I loved for who he is, his past, his humour, his flaws, his little quirks that we all hold with ourselves. Then I heard something that I didn't want to hear, "Shay it would be best if we kept our distance." Laurence says. "Of course." I say quickly, feeling envious. A darkness swells in my chest. Laurence looked quite surprised. Probably thinking how simple it was. "Okay, so we're still good?" He asks me. I barely nod, my neck stiff.
When I went to bed I pulled out my journal.
Tonight I ran into Laurence. At first he attacked me and injured me. Then I explained myself. But one again the sweetheart that Aph is, she helped me even though she barely knows me. But how can I be upset.... People trust me too easily, from what it seems like. Also I feel so angry knowing that Laurence brushed it off so quickly! It just angers me because he seemed so angry when he pinned me and when Aph came he went back to normal. I know that I'm not jealous. I just want revenge....
