It seemed like I have been wandering for centuries. The moonlight danced in the bountiful night sky. And the ground sparkled with faint droplets of water, proving that it rained a bit earlier of that evening.
I hear small mammals wrestling in their little burrows and birds flying in the dark.
I'm not sure of what I am doing in the dark. But I always felt more, welcomed. No one was there, just me and my useless thoughts of life and love. But right now that didn't matter to me. What I desired is to find a small village that has never seen or heard of me. A place I can have break at, from reality.
After traveling in a straight line for awhile, I decide to travel back in the opposite direction, back to Phoenix Drop.
As I arrived back the sun was beginning to rise above the plentiful trees and above the homes of my friends, some family.
Behind me I hear a low purr and a whisper of gibberish, voice of an elderly woman. I turn my head to see a woman with grey hair pulled back in a bun and wearing a pine green sweater. A hoard of cats cluttered around her legs and a unusual black and nude colour in her arms. "YOU!" She shouts at me, galring at me with her harsh eyes. "Yes?" I ask her. "Is this Phoenix Drop?" She snaps at me. "Yes this is Phoenix Drop." I responded. She eyes me as she walks past me with her distasteful cats stalking behind her. I sigh and follow her with my sword out now. "Why do you have your weapon out?!" She demands. "I am a guard of Phoenix Drop and it is my duty to keep newcomers and the people of this village safe." I firmly responded. She didn't budge her glare, but thankfully she continued back to the village.
In the Plaza was Kiki, up early in the morning, as usual per a say. The crazy feline woman still followed me. "Here we are in the Plaza." I announced. "So you're just gonna leave me!" She yells at me. "Yes. I am." I growled at the now obnoxious woman. That shut her up. Strangely enough Kiki has not taken notice to our entrance. "Good morning Kiki." I said to her. "GAH! Uhm, Shay you scared me." She laughs with a radiating smile on her face with her strong willed eyes shining in the early morning sun. "Sorry..... But I heard about your amulet from Lord Aphmau." I lied, I actually heard about it from Garroth. I didn't want to unease her at a time with this. "You did?" She asks me. I nod yes, shamefully. "How is your amulet doing?" I ask Kiki. "Ah.... You see I'm not so sure." She responds, looking down at the birds she was now feeding. The birds savagely peck at the hard ground, trying to collect every, single last piece of the fresh seeds. "May I?" I ask Kiki as I hold out my hand. She smiles and fills my cold hand with the seeds. I toss the seeds up into the clear, blue sky. Some of the birds flew up into the sky. Their wings extended in the wind. I feel more sadness, loneliness of my bare, empty back with no wings. "Are you alright?" Kiki asks me, a concerned look on her face. I hole back my emotions, keeping my face emotionless. "Yeah. I am." I muttered. I than threw the rest of the seeds onto the ground. "See ya around." I sighed. I then headed in the direction of the Guard Tower. As I was walking to there I saw a young woman with crimson hair and a small white pup following her. "Morning!" She calls out to me as she appeared to be walking her pup. I smile and pick up my walking pace to the Guard Tower, not wanting any awkward confrontations.
I climbed upstairs to the second floor I saw Dante now up. "Hey Shay...." He yawns. "Hey Dante." I replied, his hands ran across the swords. "How long have you been up?" Dante asks, sounding tired. "Since last night." I yawned, now realizing how tired I actually was. "That's... Awhile." He inserts. "But anyways I'm going upstairs." I stated. He just nodded and continued to what he was doing. As I left I heard him now talking to himself, I assumed that it was from lack of sleep, like for everyone else.
My eyes grew heavy when I reached the final floor, Garroth and Laurence talking. I than stalked past them. "Shay. Where were you?" Demands Garroth. I turn my head to face him, "I couldn't sleep last night. So I traveled around the woods." I responded. "You did?" Chimes in Laurance, I nod yes and yawned loudly. "You look exhausted." Sighs Laurance. He takes me by my arm, I than allow him to lead me to the table. "I am taking first patrol." I hear Garroth yell from below the floors. "Alright!" I hear Dante respond.
"What were you heading to?" Laurance asks me, snapping me back to where I was sitting at. "I-I'm not sure." I sighed as I layed my head onto the table. I then felt Laurance place his hand on my back. "You look exhausted. So, please get some sleep." He pleads. "Sure...." I mumble as I close my eyes. I then heard him stand up and left me alone. All alone as sleep took over.
I was awoken by someone pacing, back and forth. I look up with tired eyes to see Dale. "What's going on?" I ask him. He looks at him with eyes filled with worry. "Two stacks of the diamonds are missing from the chest." He says in a flat tone. "I do believe Lord Aphmau has them on her." I answered, the sound of the chair dragging across the stone floors drew out my voice. "Aphmau has them?" Dale asks me, not sure of what I just said. "Yes." I exclaimed. He nods, now sitting at the table with a book and pen in hand. His neat, curved handwriting littered the pages with loads of numbers and words I didn't understand. "Good luck Dale." I chuckled as I left him with his work. As I was leaving I heard him give a low laugh in response.
As I was heading outside I saw Lord Aphmau walking past the Guard Tower, panicking. "My guard, Shay!" She cries out to me. I turn to face her, her dress hemming was painted with dirt. "My Lord, what happened?" I asked her. She takes a breath, "Do you know where Dante is at and any run away cats?" She asks me. "No I have not seen Dante since last night and have not seen any cat. But only a handful with the crazy feline lady." I responded. Lord Aphmau gives me a dry expression. "Alright. Thank you Shay." She says, her voice so sweet. I can see why many fell in love with her. She is a beautiful, strong, and brave woman. Everything I am not.
"Anytime Lord Aphmau." I than took my leave. I wonder why Lord Aphmau has asked me about Dante, I am now worried. I'll need to ask Garroth now.
Last I heard Garroth was on patrol, probably at the Plaza at this rate. So I began to sprint to there. Passing no one, thankfully.
As I reached the Plaza I saw Garroth, Donna, and Logan in his Werewolf form. Yip sat next to shaking. The old lady from I saw was spewing insults at Garroth. Annoyance built up, she has to leave if she is going to harass the villager or guards of this village.
I then walked up next to Logan, he looks down at me. "Logan. What's going on here?" I ask him. "None of your business." He answers, a deep rumble erupting from his throat.
"DONNA! How could you marry this MUTT of a Werewolf! I am greatly disgusted." The feline lady hisses, as well her cats. "Ma'am I will have to ask you to leave if you keep this up." Enforces Garroth, his tone firm. "Why.....?" I hear Donna mumble out of sheer embarrassment. "You know her?" I ask Donna. "Yes." She whispers, staring down at her feet. "She is my mother." Donna adds in. Seconds later I feel a fuzzy and sharp object push into my face. I catch the hairball of a cat and glare at the mad woman. "Leave. Now." I snap at her. "Excuse me?!" She shouts at me. My fists tighten, I then feel Garroth place his hand on top of my head, "Shay. Stop." He orders. "Yes sir..." I whisper.
So I decided to go for a walk. To cool down.
