Note: before you even ask, yes I'm just guessing here that Lor'themar has feelings for Liadrin like everyone else. The wiki has speculations and in other sites on the internet just has guesses so I thought I could use it as an interesting idea. I don't know how true that is, but it helped me write about this chapter. Enjoy.
------------------

There has been a lot apprehension surrounding the political matters that rest its burden on the Regent Lord of Quel'thalas, yet not only the political matters are bound by his worries, invading attacks or siege in small groups from the enemy would appear at the gates as well. His aquamarine eyes glance at the blood elf maiden who sat on a chair, merely inches away from him. Not purposely, a sharing of a small map between them bought the event to get her sit so close to him. Lor'themar really didn't mean to stare, but her beauty and posture made him look at her with utter surprise, making him think, was he really sitting so close to her?.
Burdens of scrolls and parchments rest around the large table in his office. And he needed to read them carefully over and over before taking any actions. Of course there were his assistants to help him, but these matters are sensitive and especially need his careful inspection.
"I miss the days when I used to be a Farstrider, when I held a bow in my hand, the sweet forest breeze running through my hair" the Regent Lord stared at the parchment in his hand, but his mind wasn't concentrated there.
"My lord, the Alliance's human soldiers seems to be growing yet more hostile to us..." a blood elven officer broke the silence of the office room as he stared with surprise at the current reports bought by his spies.
(Y/n) slightly lifted her head, which made Lor'themar steal a glimpse at her, as she looked at him shortly before turning her eyes back at the other reports in her hand.
"It's really not important now officer, we only need to strengthen our outposts and supply those with a few more warriors" Lor'themar replied to him, a deep scar going down from his forehead to his left eye which was covered in a dark eyepatch.
The officer nodded before going back to his work.
Lor'themar sighed and awaited the work to end, or at least near a certain halt.
--------————
After a long three hours later, the meeting was bought to a strategic decision and was halted for the day. The other blood elven lords bowed slightly or said a Thalassian goodbye before taking long strides out of the grand office room, with their blood knights and bodyguards following them.
(y/n) was Lor'themar's trusted friend and knight but it isn't all happiness and sunshine between them always.
Lor'themar looks at her, she stands calm and quietly beside him like a living embodiment of beauty, making it hard to believe at times that she is a warrior.
They stand alone in the empty room, as the golden final rays of the sun peek through the lightly curtained windows.
"(Y/n) a word, I must speak to you" the Regent Lord finally spoke
"Your wish is my command, my lord" her melodic voice repeating after him
"No need to sound so formal..." he said, softening his voice
"I fear those words, especially when you say that my lord..." she smiles, not really with happiness
"I would like to talk about the rough separation we..."
The dark past's memories rushed through her mind as she quickly interrupted him
"Lor'themar please, I know what you are going to say, but it was over an year ago, I am merely a knight of yours and I'm not...we are not the same people we knew each other as anymore"
"You want to forget all that we had, for each other? You want me to forget the (y/n)?" He replied with grief in his voice
"Yes... the (y/n) you fell in love with, whom you promised to be together before breaking it to a thousand pieces... forget the moments in the sunset when we promised each other that we shall always be together... at least that's what you said to me, I don't have the knowledge of how true that is, to be precise" she replied sounding bitter than her usual sweet demeanor, her voice slightly broken by sorrow as he saw the tears welling up her (e/c) eyes.
"I do not desire to bring those moments back, listen I did tell you that Liadrin is just a friend..." Lor'themar trailed off as he saw (y/n) quietly weeping to herself, no doubt, the storm that broke them apart was a hardship for her.

He didn't extended the conversation, since the memories was too painful to bring it back, both for him and (y/n).
The walk towards the Sunfury Spire was a quiet one, with little to nothing to talk about. As he reached the gates of the spire, he was welcomed by his other high magistrates while (y/n) was ordered to return to her garrison.
The Regent Lord looked back at her as she walked away, her (h/c) hair flowing down her back, but seldom she stopped and never looked back. It pained his heart, but perhaps it pained (y/n)'s even more. All they wished was to avoid opening the wound that was closed after great agony, but it was difficult, seeing each other would remind them of the events as if it happened yesterday.

At the inn you quietly sat down staring at the half empty glass of wine as your other friends spoke about the wars. You can't help but feel depressed about the matter of evening
"Perhaps I shouldn't have been so rude..." you were abruptly startled out off your musings as a voice spoke in your mind
"I must speak with you now, it's a matter of utmost urgency" it didn't take a moment for you to understand who it was.
You stood up, waved your friends goodbye as you took long strides towards the Spire.

"So you're leaving tomorrow?" you asked him, now standing in front of him in Sunfury Spire
"Yes, its a battle... I do not know when I'll return" Lor'themar replied as you nodded
"I see, well I can't appear with you to the harbor tomorrow I'm afraid"
"Then we say our goodbyes from here"
"Goodbye and my well-wishes with you my lord" she apathetically replied, Lor'themar looked at her as he took his steps closer to her.
She didn't move, nor did she look at him
"You have become very uncaring (y/n)" he said in grief before gently placing a kiss on her lips.

You glimpsed at him, a single tear escape your eyes before you politely pulled back and nodded before walking away from him. Hard to tell if their bleeding hearts worsened or perhaps something was fated but it was a rather cold goodbye....

The next evening when the sun was departing the sky, Lor'themar stood at the harbor waiting for the ship to arrive.
Meanwhile (y/n) stood at a far bridge overlooking the harbor, certain in her mind that no one could notice her here.
But how wrong she was when she heard him just from behind her
"I knew you would come here" she looked to find the Regent Lord smiling at her, as she couldn't help but smile back at him
"How did you know I am here?" you were surprised
"I believed that a simple misunderstanding could never part us this way, and here you came to meet me" he gently said as he enclosed his arms around you, embracing you from behind, he softly brushed his face against your temples before gently kissing your cheek.
"I don't know what to say... I still love you Lor'themar" she smiles at him, gazing at the sea glittering in the sunlight.
Lor'themar heard her saying that after a long time, he quietly chuckled
"I love you as well, don't let such small matters-"
"Do us apart, yes I know...I apologize for the error of my ways, I want to give us another chance" she turned to face him.
"What's stopping you then?" Lor'themar teased as he softly pulled her by her waist before capturing her lips into that loving kiss they shared an year ago......
