Note:
I had to add this music here, in my opinion I think it would really fit in with the chapter.

——————————
"Azsuna... once a gem of the kaldorei empire" she couldn't muster any more words as she got down from her gryphon.
Even though, ancient and discolored with age, the pillars of once a great temple or perhaps a magical academy stood still. Singing the echoes of past, the glory of their presence along with all the ancient structures had her surprised... no, astounded.
Yes, everything was in ruins now because of the war that took place here countless years ago, but the surroundings still emanated the same glory, however a dark one. If one would look closely at the fair elven maidens who walked around the gardens with wilted roses and daisies, they would see that the maiden is formless, a ghost of her former self, an echo of the distant past.
(Y/n) began to feel a strange knot form in the pit of her stomach, she couldn't tell if it was the stench of the fel that made her feel sick or the grief she felt to see the destruction that these demons have so mercilessly caused.
"I must not become so distracted, I have unfinished job that needs tending to" (y/n) muttered, trying to neutralize the expressions of pain in her face. Even though these are dire times, with little to no care about appearances, she must look presentable. After going through a long procedure of introduction to the Illidari and rescuing the ancient blue dragon, Senegos, (y/n) finally received the much needed information about the "Court of Farondis". Though what she received was not really as helpful as an information, appropriately it can be called a clue because of how vague and mostly unsure it appeared to her. But just by hearing the name "Farondis" she was sure where to find him, and to question him for the deeds he has done.
Just like the rest of the night elves, (y/n) grew up hearing the tales that how the trusted and honored prince Farondis had betrayed the ever loved and light of lights, queen Azshara and had doomed their people. Just like the rest of them, she was unaware of the true tale behind these spurned stories, perhaps she was about to see the true intentions behind the betrayal of prince Farondis or she could misunderstand him like the rest and shun the prince.
As the hateful thoughts surrounded (y/n)'s mind, she was soon startled out of them by a female voice;
"You there!" she shouted "keep your hands and weapons where I can see them" she demanded but seeing that all weapon (y/n) had was a staff and her hands resting on the reins of her nightsabre, she didn't pressure the night elf anymore.
"What are you looking for here? You don't appear to be one of those nagas" she added.
Nodding her head, (y/n) replied
"I'm not, just like you, I am a kaldorei, a night elf" she paused to think about something for a bit before speaking again "I seek the Prince Farondis, there are some questioning that needs to be done" hearing that, the spectral night elf scowled and muttered something under her breath
"I am Nightwatcher Idri, before you can get to him, you must kill some of these beasts. Especially their leader, once that's done, meet me here again" Idri said.
(Y/n) felt anger swelling up in her mind, which appeared in the form of a frown in her face but she knew that the Nightwatcher was adamant and the matter would only delay itself if (y/n) complained more.
The night elf slightly rolled her eyes and looked at the direction where the Nightwatcher was pointing at, truly there were a lot of naga attackers and many warriors were fighting these snakelike creatures but they were ruled by a very different looking naga, who must be their leader.
"Chop off the head and the body falls off"
a slightly evil smile twisted her lips as she charged to the serpentine leader.
The battle between the naga leader and (y/n) was over almost as soon as it had begun, the victor being obviously (y/n). As the night elf walked out from the little building where the leader had hidden, with his head held in her hands. The naga soldiers by now had begun scattering and retreating for their lives.
Seemed like a convenient situation now, but the momentary feeling of joy had disappeared once again when (y/n) saw that the ancient graves of the night elves which were now waterlogged, were being desecrated by murlocs and such.
They were stealing the remains of the fallen and attempted some sort of ritual.
Whatever they attempted, it was immensely insulting of them and of all, (y/n) couldn't just stand here and watch this.
As the female night elf began to slay the fishlike desecrators, she collected the unearthed bones from them and carefully placed them in a holy satchel.
After she collected enough, she didn't really know what to do with them. She couldn't just put them back into the grave, either most of them were dug to the point where they couldn't be called graves or everything just submerged in water.
With a confused mind, (y/n) just took the satchel with her. Perhaps she can decide on what to do about them later on."Ah glad to see you return in one piece" the Nightwatcher smiled "Hmm? What's that? Zarin's head? Now I know that why you wield such a powerful artifact as your weapon" Idri almost giggled with joy as she took the snakelike head from (y/n).
"Alright, follow me then... I shall take you to prince Farondis" she said but her smile disappeared as she said the next words "oh and if you get a chance, spit on him for me" she frowned and ran towards the court.
(Y/n) understood the hatred for Farondis that lived in these people, she could even relate to them as she would tell herself but so unaware of the fact that so much truth had been tainted and unmentioned because of these spurned lies.
The court doesn't seem too far now, she could even see the spectral court members. Still standing like their living selves would, only cursed and bound to wander this world in a restless form.
And there, she saw the ever familiar figure. Standing at the center of the chamber as the spirits around him taunted and cursed him, while he apologized repeatedly but naught were granted as the spirits' cries for vengeance around him grew louder.
Something clicked in (y/n)'s mind, she began to sense presence of doubt and many questions flocking in her mind.
The female mage didn't even realize when Idri and her had appeared in front of the prince. The night elf was almost startled as the gently glowing eyes of prince Farondis had glanced into her (e/c) eyes, perhaps he had detected that he had startled her and smiled apologetically
"Greetings, as much as I would like to know about you and the feats you have accomplished, I believe even after so many years, Azsuna lies in great danger from the same queen who had pushed this land into it" the prince paused "come closer, I might have to shout everything from here if you just stand there, outside the court" he said and chuckled. Even after going through the torment of his people around him, he manages to smile and laugh.
This is so admirable for someone who has been accused of being a villain, forgetting all her anger towards him, (y/n) walked into the court, closer to him.
The spirits around him seemed to drift back as the female walks in, watching them from a distance.
"Are you... prince Farondis?" she asked, still wondering if this was a trick being casted by him, as he hid his true self, toying with magic and her mind, to mock her place as a mage.
"Indeed, I am the infamous prince Farondis, though it is up to you to decide if you wish to trust me or accuse me of betrayal like my people, there are more pressing matters at hand" the subtle smile in his face became faint as he said "the horrid fish-men in El'dranil Shallows defile our resting place and steal the only mark that proves that we once existed. Our bones, and remains is what they defile. Though my people may not care for me or hate me even, my care for them shall be eternal" Farondis looks into (y/n)'s eyes, who had been listening to his melodic voice and everything he had said, mesmerized by him
"I cannot see them do this, and I beg of you, please bring the bones of the fallen elves back from them. Unfortunately all of them cannot be retrieved, bring back as many as you can and I can put them to rest" prince Farondis replied, his expression holding grief and regret over his inability to go and bring the remains himself.
(Y/n) came back to reality as soon as the prince had grown quiet, she nodded as she reached into her bag and carefully took out the satchel "worry not prince Farondis, for I have already retrieved them from those creatures... you were right, there weren't as many to collect but I did as much as I could" she replied, trying to smile but one thing was now sure, the hatred she once felt for him had disappeared and began to be fulfilled by respect and fondness for him.
The prince looked at the satchel and then at (y/n), he was surprised as he took the satchel carefully.
Muttering a darnassian prayer before he set down the satchel and looked at (y/n) with gratitude.
"I cannot thank you enough for this, I must ask, how did you know about them?" Farondis asked
"I was completing a task given to me, returning victorious from it, I saw the murlocs desecrating ancient graves... it was foolish of me but I allowed rage cloud my ability to reason with, I charged at them, killed them and took the remains from their bodies. How dare they?...!" rage seemed just as clear as the moment she felt them at the Shallows, (y/n) quickly regained her composure as she thought the prince might be thinking of her as strange
"You remind me of the times when I lived, such love and willingness to fight for your people... I believe that you deserve to know what truly happened in Azsuna, and why does my people have such hatred towards me" Farondis widely smiled at (y/n), which she returned with hers. The truth of the Drowned Gardens and Azsuna shall be known to another soul, and perhaps another soul who shall hate the true enemy. However that still entirely depends upon the mage (y/n) and what she decides to believe in...

(A/N: Farondis is a really well written character, but sadly I have yet to see any fanfiction written about him. I'm working on a part two as well, thanks for reading!)
