"y/n! y/n are you listening to me?" a voice snapped y/n out of her thoughts as she turned to look at jonghyun who was walking beside her.

"uhm sorry, i just got lost in my thoughts. what did you say again?" y/n answered.

"i said, i've decided to ask yerin out!" jonghyun repeated with a small smile.

y/n suddenly felt her heart break. she looked away from jonghyun as she fumbled with her bag strap.

jonghyun and y/n were both colleagues who worked together at a small ramen restaurant. they slowly became friends as they worked together and y/n started developing feelings for jonghyun. she knew that jonghyun was only her crush and they could never be anything more than friends and colleagues, however she couldn't control her feelings for jonghyun and always hoped that one day jonghyun would feel the same way.

but her hopes came crushing down when jonghyum started talking about this girl whom he met that he really liked. without knowing about y/n's feelings, he constantly talked to y/n about his crush and how to ask her out. that simply broke y/n's heart.

[a/n btw i forgot to mention, both of them are walking to the bus stop after work]

"i think i should ask her out for a meal, or maybe i should cook for her to show my sincerity. what do you think y/n?" jonghyun asked y/n with a smile that made y/n go weak.

"uh yeah that sounds good," y/n gave a quiet response.

"i should get her some flowers too. what kind of flowers should i get for her?" jonghyun asked again, totally unaware that y/n was dying inside.

"i don't know," y/n replied softly again.

"hmm i think yerin would - oh! my bus is here, i'll see you tomorrow y/n!" jonghyun flashed y/n a smile before running to catch his bus.

and that was it, y/n was left all alone.

/ next day at work /

y/n came to work early and she didn't wait for jonghyun at the bus stop to walk to the restaurant together with him like they usually do.

"y/n?" a familiar voice called out to her as she looked up to see jonghyun.

"why didn't you wait for me at the bus stop?" he asked as y/n looked away, her hand gripping onto her apron.

"i...i forgot..." she bit down onto her lips.

"oh," was all jonghyun could say before y/n walked away to serve a customer.

y/n tried her best to avoid jonghyun the whole day at work. when jonghyun tried talking to her, she would try to find an excuse to leave. y/n knew jonghyun was going to confess to his crush soon, she would rather avoid jonghyun and get over him before she falls deeper for him.

but it wasn't as simple as she thought.

"y/n, why are you avoiding me?" jonghyun grabbed onto y/n's arm just before she could leave the restaurant. their work shift was over and their manager had left, leaving jonghyun and y/n to close up the restaurant and leave.
