maya held her head low as she slowly made her way through the crowd at the cafeteria holding her food tray.

"my new top cost a bomb! you know how hardd it got me to get this limited edition - AHHH!!!!!" kwon nari was walking backwards, showing off to her minions how expensive her new top was and you could've guessed what happen next, just as nari was turning back, maya with her head down walked right into nari.

[a/n my grammer kinda sucks but u can imagine whats going on HAHAH]

"i'm...i'm s...so... sor...sorry..." maya stuttered in fear.

"you little piece of sHITT!!" nari screamed as oily soup and vegetables dripped down her new gucci top. maya gasped as she held her oily tray and timidly took small steps back.
not just because she just spilled her food on the school queenka's most expensive blouse but because kwon nari was also the school's biggest bully, and maya was sadly one of her victims.

maya knew she was so screwed.

"you bitch! how are you going to pay me for this top!!?" nari spat onto maya, gaining attention from all corners of the cafeteria.

shaking in anger, nari grabbed a bowl of soup from the student beside her and threw it onto maya's face.

maya shut her eyes instinctively as she felt the cold soup drip down her face. she held back her tears as she opened her eyes and wiped the soup off her face timidly.

"girls, teach her a lesson," nari glared at maya before her minions took action. kicking, punching and pulling of hair. maya couldn't fight back.

"you loser!"

"you're so weak!"

"yes! kick her!"

the crowd was cheering on nari and her gang.

that was not a rare sight. maya literally gets beaten up by nari on a daily basis and nobody ever stood up for maya whenever she gets beaten up because they say it was useless even if they tried helping, that was they're excuse. so everyone took the easy way out and cheered on nari because she's the queenka of the school.

"stop it!" a loud voice shouted as a male student pushed his way through the crowd. nari's minions stopped beating up maya, everyone else stopped cheering and the whole cafeteria fell into silence.

"yah what are you doing?" the unfamiliar male student pushed nari's minions away and stood in front of maya protectively.

"who are you?" nari frowned as her eyes scanned the boy up and down.

"why were you beating her up?" the boy said in a harsh tone, not answering nari's question.

"boy, you're new here right? do you even know who she is? the biggest loser in our school," one of nari's minions scoffed as she rolled her eyes at maya.

[a/n lol this is so cringe HAHA]

"i think the real losers are y'all. i can't even believe how childish and immature you people are. you're already in high school for god's sakes, just grow up already and learn how to treat others better."

nari's eyes widened as her face went red with anger.

no one has ever dared to talk back to her like that before.

the boy ignored the gasped from the students crowding around him. he turned back to face maya and reached out to grab maya's hands before pulling her away from the shocked crowds of students and out of the cafeteria.

maya didn't know how to react. all she could do was look down at the boy's and her interlocked hands as she got dragged away by him.

the boy brought her to a secluded area of the school, before releasing maya's hands and looking up at her.

"i'm sorry. i just couldn't watch her keep bullying you. are you okay?" the boy finally said, breaking the awkward silence.

"n..no thank you... for helping me earlier. and yeah i'm fine, more like i'm already used to it," maya quickly said in a quiet voice, her head still hanging low.

"anyways, i'm ahn hyungseob, a new transfer student here," hyungseob smiled at maya widely, trying to ease the awkward and tense atmosphere.

maya finally took the courage to lift her head and look at hyungseob. as her eyes met his, she immediately got lost if them. his gaze was warm, comforting and made maya feel at ease. she could tell that hyungseob was genuinely concerned and trying to help her, and she thankful for that.

"i'm maya," she gave hyungseob a small smile.

"great, so i guess we're friends now?" the boy smiled brightly at maya's response.

maya looked down at her feet as her fingers fumbled at the hem of her skirt.

"i think it's best if we don't be friends or hang out together. you've already seen what happened, i'm literally an outcast, a loser, a weakling..." maya bit her lip as she tried holding back her tears.

hyungseob took a step closer to her and place his hands on her shoulder, making maya look up abruptly at his sudden actions.

"yah don't say that maya, stop saying that you're a loser, stop letting them bring you down! they will say whatever they like but you can't let them or anyone else and their words affect you!" hyungseob explained as he tried to lock eyes with maya but maya refused to look at him.

"it's...not as eay as you think..." maya's tears were on the verge of falling down onto her pale cheeks.

"it is if you stay strong. i believe you can. trust me, i've been there before," hyungseob gave maya a sad smile.

"y..you mean you've been bullied before?" maya finally lifted her head up.

hyungseob chuckled as he put his arms around maya's neck and started walking. maya's eyes widened at hyungseob's action. her heart was racing as she was forced to lean on hyungseob's chest.

"yeah, but see? i got over it and i'm so much better than before," he grinned and took his hands off maya's neck.

"don't be scared, show them that you're strong. if they dare bully you again - " hyungseob paused as he walked in front of maya.

"i'll protect you!" he finished while hitting his chest and making a goofy face which caused maya to burst out into giggles.

hyungseob smiled even wider after seeing maya finally smile.

"soo... we're friends now?" hyungseob asked again.

"yeah yeah whatever," maya shyly smiled and walked ahead of hyungseob, trying to hide her flushed cheeks.
