mari felt a warm and soft arm snake around her waist as her lips immediately curled up into a smile.

she didn't even have to look at who the person was nor could she look at him, but she knew very well who he was, it was her boyfriend, euiwoong.

"how's your day today jagi?" euiwoong asked mari as he helped mari stand up.

"just...normal..." mari replied, giving euiwoong a small smile.

to be honest, she had a bad day, just like any other days she had here in hanlim high school. as usual, she got bullied and left alone by her classmates. why? to put it harshly, because she was blind. and because she was dating euiwoong, one of the most popular guys in hanlim.

"tell me if those girls pick on you again, alright? i'll protect you," mari could hear euiwoong speak as he interwined his fingers with mari's. mari smiled.

"thanks euiwoong," she replied as they walked out of the school gate.

mari didn't even know what what would happen to her without euiwoong. it was always euiwoong who was there for her, and protecting her. ever since she joined hanlim a few months ago, it was euiwoong who took the initiative to help her around because she couldn't see. he was a really nice guy, and a month ago, mari and euiwoong started dating. it was euiwoong who told his friends to help look out for mari, and make sure she doesn't get hurt.

"are you scared?" euiwoong asks.

"yeah to be honest. i'm very," mari replies as her grip on euiwoong's hand tightened at the thought of her going through a surgery. euiwoong had told his mother, who was an eye surgeon, about mari's condition. and today, mari was going to go for her eye surgery.

"it's alright jagi, don't be scared," euiwoong comforts mari.

just then, a car stops in front of them. it was euiwoong's mother who came to fetch mari to the hospital. euiwoong and mari got on the car together.

the ride to the hospital was quiet, euiwoong didn't know whether he should talk to mari let her rest. his right arm was around mari's waist and he was holding mari's hand and caressing it gently with his left hand.

soon, they reached the hospital and euiwoong's mother brought them up to a hospital ward. euiwoong was waiting outside the ward while the nurse was helping mari prepare for the surgery. mari's mind was in a whirl. no doubt she was really scared, but she was also excited to be able to see for the first time in her life. and, she really really wanted to see how euiwoong in real life. all this time, she could only imagine euiwoong's appearance by his voice and actions, she couldn't wait to see him face to face.

"are you ready? if yes, we will be bringing you to the surgery room now," one of the nurses smiled at mari warmly and she nodded. the nurse then pushed mari out of the ward on the hospital bed. euiwoong, who was waiting outside, immediately rushed to mari's side and held onto her hand as she was being pushed slowly to the surgery room.

"you're going to be alright jagi, i love you," euiwoong whispers into mari's ear as he bent down to peck her cheeks.

mari bit dow on her lips as she held onto euiwoong's hand tightly, never wanting to let it go.

once the reached the surgery room, mari realeased euiwoong's hands slowly as disappeared behind the door.

mari took a deep breath as she assured herself, she was going to be alright.

it had already been 5 hours and euiwoong was waiting at the visitors lounge nervously.

suddenly, his mother walked into the lounge and he quickly shoved his phone into his pocket and got up, hurrying towards her and praying that mari was alright.

his mother smiled at him warmly.

"the nurses have pushed mari back to the ward where she will remove the bandage around her eyes, you can go to see her there," his mother told him before walking off.

euiwoong heaved a sign of relieve. mari was alright! and mari was going to see him for the first time.

he made his way to the ward nervously as he fondled with his fingers, trying to calm himself down.

once he reached the ward, he took a deep breath as he pushed open the door to see two nurses behind the door.

the nurses smiled before leaving the ward. euiwoong smiled back faintly, before he quickly turned his head to the direction of mari. she was facing the windows, and back-facing the door, so euiwoong couldn't see her face.

euiwoong took small steps towards mari, and knelt down in front of her. mari slowly shifted her gaze towards euiwoong as he reached out to grab her hands.

they locked eyes and just stayed like that for a solid 1 minute. mari tried digesting euiwoong's appearance that she had been imagining from the past few months, he was ethereal. gosh, she was getting so emotional.

a tear rolled down mari's eyes as euiwoong pulled mari into his embrace. mari placed her chin lightly euiwoong's shoulders.

"i...i..." mari mumbled, she didn't exactly know what to say as she pulled away.

"shhh," euiwoong cooed as he gently caressed mari's hair, while wiping away the tear-stains on mari's face.

this, was honestly the best day of mari's entire life. she never knew seeing euiwoong could make her this happy.
