Chapter 12: Survey Corps

"Hey moron,"

"Yeah, what is it?" (y/n) said as she finished buckling the straps of her harness on her chest.

Levi turned around so she could see his problem. A white cloth was hanging around his neck.

"A cravat?" she asked approaching him. She pulled the cloth so that it was even on both sides.

"It was from my mother's dress," he said as she crisscrossed the cloth across his neck and pulled the piece that was on top out of the gap between his neck and the cross.

"Your mother?" She asked fixing the cravat.

"I'd rather not talk about her,"

"Isn't she upset that you tore up her dress?"

"She's dead," Levi said giving her a cold stare as he held a tight grip on her wrist, "don't talk to me about her again." He tossed it away from his cravat and walked away grabbing his jacket.

"I...I'm sorry," she whispered, I didn't know. She grabbed her jacket and put it on.

They were called to go outside, in front of all the Scout Regiment.

"Recruits!" Yelled one man, "Introduce yourselves!"

Levi had his arms crossed with the same countenance he gave her earlier. She wished that for once he can be less intimidating, besides the times where they were alone together.

"Be sociable," Furlan whispered to him.

He sighed, "The name's Levi,"

Gasps came from the whole crowd. Seriously? You've never heard a man speak before? She thought, crossing her arms as well.

"Levi," said the man, "the first thing you're going to need to learn is discipline! Next!"

Isabel walked forward, "Isabel Magnolia, nice to meetcha!" She placed her fist to her chest.

"I'm Furlan Church...hey," Furlan introduced himself. (y/n) could have sworn that they were all shocked by him speaking.

She sighed as she walked up. She placed her right hand on the left side of her chest and her right hand on her back, "(y/n) (l/n). Pleasure to be here," She said in a stoic voice. Everyone in the crowd was surprised by her introduction. "Tch."

"Flagon!" the man yelled, "These three will be assigned to your squad."

"M-My squad sir?" a man with dirty blond hair with a black undercut stuttered, "Shouldn't Erwin-"

"Erwin's task is with the soldier's formation. The new recruits are your responsibility, understood?"

"Yes sir!" Flagon saluted as he glared at Levi who glared back.

"Take them to the barracks and show them where they will be staying."

Flagon nodded, "follow me,"

The four of them walked off the stage and followed him.

"Hey!" Someone yelled from behind, "(y/n)! Wait up!"

She turned around to face the same reddish haired boy, waving his arm in the air. "Hey little girl," he panted as he placed his hands on his knees, short of breath.

"Excuse me?" She raised her eyebrow

"Huh?" He was still panting, "It's me Ansel, Ansel Hagenfort. Don't you remember me?"

It took her a few seconds to recognize him, "yeah," she said, walking up to him, "I remember,"

He smiled as she crouched down to his level smiling as well. She slid her leg under him, causing him to fall on his back.
