"Ansel!" An old woman cried. A young man with reddish brown hair, pale skin, and blue eyes came marching down the wooden staircase as if he were a horse on a Scout's expedition. "Can you go fetch some more firewood?"
"Yes mom," he smiled, running over to the door and grabbing his brown coat. It started to feel chilly around the area and snow could come at any moment. He slipped on his gloves and boots and grabbed a sort of wooden back carrier used to carry the wood. He left the wooden cottage and ran to an area he knew had plenty of firewood.
He picked up plenty of sticks and stacked them neatly onto the carrier.
"Please...someone..." a voice called. Ansel turned to look for where it came from. "It's so...cold."
Under the shadows of a barren tree, was a girl with (eye color) eyes, (hair color) hair, wearing a dirty ragged white night gown which ended at her below her knees. Ansel couldn't believe what he saw. "(y/n)..." he muttered, "that can't be..." She's far too young to be her and she died a few days ago. Did the system allow her back in? No. There's no way-
"Where am I?" She asked, pulling the long sleeves on her drees to keep her small hands warm, "do you know where I am?"
"Why..." Ansel said softly as he approached her, "what are you doing out here?"
"I don't know," she placed her hand on her head as tears brimmed her eyes, "but it's really cold."
"Here," Ansel took off the carrier and took off his coat. He wrapped it around the tiny girl's body, "is that better?"
"Yes...thank you," she snuggled herself into the coat.
"How did you end up here? A little girl like you shouldn't be out here all alone."
"I'm not a little girl!" she argued, her cheeks turning even redder than they were before, "I'm just..."
Wow, she looks like her and hates being called little, Ansel thought, maybe it is her. How? There's no way. This kid is looks nine years younger than (y/n).
"Um...so do you know my name?" She asked.
"Huh?"
"You said something. I think it was (y/n) or something. Is that my name?"
That's weird, why would she forget her own name? What is this? Some malfunction in the program? Did she hit her head or something? That can't be right, even though you bashed your head into something it shouldn't cause memory loss like this. "Yes, it is." He said, "Your name is (y/n) (l/n)."
"(y-y/n) (l/n)," she repeated to herself, "I have a pretty name."
Ansel smiled, "yeah...yeah you do."
"Um, so how do you know who I am?" She asked curious, hiding her face in his coat.
"Well-I uhhh." He stuttered. Then an idea struck him, "you see, you're my little sister."
"I am?"
"Yeah, you must have been playing here late again weren't you?" He smiled.
"I...I don't remember," she placed a hand on her head, "my head hurts. I feel like I should be doing something."
The Captain! Ansel thought, she could have come back for Levi. But that wouldn't make even more sense. Why let her back just because of that-? The promise... He fiddled with the sliver chain hanging around his neck and on it a silver ring.
"Um...hello?" she said cutting off his train of thought, "can we go home?"
"Oh...um, yes," he stood up and held out his hand, "here, let me help you up."
She took his hand and he saw what she was sitting on. A large pile of firewood. No wonder he couldn't find much. She looked at him them at the firewood.
"I think I was trying to get some firewood, but got lost in the dark on my way back. I must've forgotten to bring the carrier and a lantern."
"That's alright," Ansel said, "you have my work cut out for me. Let's bring you home first. I'll come back and fetch the firewood."
"O-Okay..." she said as he made her go on his back, "you haven't even told me your name yet." She wrapped her arms around his neck.
"My name's Ansel," he said sweetly, "but you can call me big brother if you want."
She kept her head down, "okay...big brother."
A/N: So this is the end huh? You made it this far. I'm so glad I survived long enough to post this chapter. You have no idea how many times I have been jumping back and forth from chapter to chapter and from book to book based on my mood. In fact, I worked on this chapter ahead of time during finals week. I'm so glad you like this book and maybe I'll see you in the sequel to this! Sayonara reader!!!
