I rounded the corner and ran into what felt like a brick wall. It was only after I had realized that I'd fallen to the ground that that brick wall was a person. That person being the new kid.

"Ouch" I groan as I lay back on the ground looking up at the sky. I can't believe I just ran smack into the new kid. Who was just standing there smiling at me. He doesn't even have the nerve to say 'sorry' or 'are you alright?' or even...

"Are you alright?" he asks peering down at me interrupting my thoughts. I guess I spoke too soon.

I look over at him then back up at the sky letting out an exasperated sigh, "I'm fine."

"Are you sure? You're still laying on the ground." He extends a hand towards me "Would you like some help up?"

I stare at his hand, momentarily forgetting I was still on the ground. I noticed that I could see some tattoos underneath his sleeves. I couldn't make out what they were except that they were unusual. Noticing that I was staring at his tattoos, he drew back his hand and pulled on his sleeve covering them up.

I look at him and sit up, "I'm fine." I say getting up and brushing myself off. "Thank you though." we stood there silently for a moment. "I better get going" I say and start to walk away.

"Wait!" he says placing a light hand on my arm. Making my heart stop. "Do you walk?" he asks letting go of my arm.

For a brief moment I felt a flicker in my chest. It was as if I didn't want him to let go.

Looking down at my feet not wanting him to see me blush I say "Yeah, I live just in the outskirts of town. About ten minutes from here." I gesture with my hand. "Aeryn usually walks with me so I'm not alone, but her mother wanted her straight home today." I continue and shrug looking up at him. "So I guess it's just me today. "

He stands there silent for a moment.
"Well, I wouldn't mind walking you home today. If you don't mind.." he says looking at me. I stand there silent. Probably looking dumbfounded.

Looking at him, I realize this is the first time I've really taken his features. He has calm patient eyes in the most amazing blue green color. A light spreading of freckles across his sharp and angled nose. My eyes drift up to his full head of light brown hair, slightly ruffled and messy. I find myself fighting the urge to run my fingers through his hair to fix it. I lower my gaze to his lips which were framed by a perfect jawline. Before I could fully admire his lips, they start to move.

He's saying something

He's saying something. Crap, what did he say? Snap out of it Kryselis. Coming back to my senses I just look at him, clueless.

"Would that be fine with you?" briefly placing his hand on my shoulder again making my heart race.

"Is what fine?" I quickly stammer, shifting from one foot to another. He steps a little closer looking amused.

"Would it be OK with you if I were to accompany you home? I happen to live in the same direction so it's not out of my way." he says putting his hands in his pockets.
