I'm running. Trees pass by me in a blur.
"Kryselis" I hear someone call my name.
I look behind me not stopping. I don't see anyone. I keep running, running for my life. But what am I running from?
I lighten up my pace as I try to remember why I'm running, or who I was running from. I search all corners of my brain hoping to come across some answers. Nothing. So why am I still running? I stop running and look around me. Trying to get a sense of where I am. I'm surrounded by trees, I'm in the woods. I walk forward, in the distance I can see a clearing. I turn once more, are these the woods I live in? Something about this place seems so familiar, yet I can't place it. My eyes come to rest on an oddly huge oak tree. I walk over to it, something drawing me in. The tree is massive. It's covered in a bright green moss that seems to glow even in the sun. Almost as if it was covered in glitter. The bark of the tree was a dark brown. It complimented the green of the moss well. I follow the moss up the tree with my eye to a huge canopy made of branches and leaves. The leaves themselves to seemed to glow bright green as well. As I move closer to the tree I noticed there were engravings in the bark. Something similar to the ones I had seen on Kyrads arms. But what is it? What does it mean?
Just as I was about to touch the tree I hear "Kryselis" and froze.
"Kryselis" I hear again still unable to move.
"KRYSELIS" I hear in a raspy piercing scream.
I slowly start to turn around "Kryselis"I hear calm again.
I turn and there in a distance was a woman. She was covered from head to toe in black. She had big bright coppery orange eyes. There seemed to be a black mist emanating from her skin, and she wasn't standing. She was hovering just above the ground.
"Who are you?" I yelled at her.
She just stood there and looked at me.
"What do you want?" I asked slowly backing up.
She cocked her head to the side, lifted an arm and pointed at me. I just stood there and stared at her, fear coursing through my veins. Our eyes met and she smiled. She screamed a blood curdling scream and came flying toward me. Her jaw open wider than any human jaw should go. Run Kryselis, You have to run. I couldn't move, I was frozen in fear. She was getting closer to me. Something clicked and I was able to get myself to move.
I was running again. This is what I was running from. I was starting to remember. She is what I was running from. I ran in the direction of the clearing I saw earlier. I glance behind me and notice that she was getting closer. I pushed myself harder and broke the edge of the clearing. I was at the field. I stopped momentarily to see where the woman was. I turned and saw two bright coppery orange eyes. She caught up to me. I look around me for a way out. But I was on the edge of the field, nothing was within reach. I slowly start to back up. This is it. This is how I die. Here in a field. I slowly start to back up. She moves forward every step I take back. She moves her arm out towards me. This is finally it, I think to myself. The moment I die. I close my eyes and take one more step back.
All of a sudden I'm falling. I hear the women screech in anger. I can't see her or hear her anymore. I'm still falling. I look around me and see nothing but darkness. maybe this is how I die I think to myself before hitting something hard. I jerk awake. I look around me quickly trying to figure out where I am. I'm in my bed. I'm home, safe. I look at the clock before laying back. It's three o'clock in the morning.
Running a hand down my face I mutter "What even?" to myself.
Rolling over, I try to go back to sleep. My mind kept drifting back to my dream. I try to process everything. It felt so real yet it wasn't. Forgetting about the creepy lady in black my mind wonders to the big oak tree I had seen in my dream. It had the same markings that Kyrad had with his tattoos. Why did they have the same markings? There couldn't be a connection. Could there? I had to remind myself that it was just a dream and I was probably over thinking it. But, the more I thought about them the more familiar they felt. They were familiar, yet foreign. Why was the moss and the leaves on the oak tree glowing? Trees don't glow..or have some kind of foreign language engraved on them. Where was the logic in that? I would have to ask Kyrad about his tattoos when I see him again. Maybe he'll have an explanation.
I toss and turn all night. The image of the woman branded in my mind. Why was she chasing me? I don't know. I have nothing special or anything she would want. How did she know my name? She couldn't of have guessed it. It's a unique name after all. Who am I kidding? It was just a dream Kryselis, snap out of it. I force my mind to think of something else. Anything else except the woman. My mind drifts to Kyrad's tattoos. How intricate and detailed they were. And the etchings, what did they say? Why did his tattoos seem to move when i was looking at them. So many questions, with no one to answer them. I will have to ask Kyrad next time I see him I remind myself once again. I roll over and drift off to sleep.
Scary right? I think so too! I had a nightmare similar to this one once before bit the creature was an evil ant eater looking thing. Strange right?
