"Kyrad!" I yelled after him but he wouldn't stop. He kept running. I tried to go after him but Krysmond held me back. I had to go after him. Who knows where he will go. I struggled to get away, but it was useless against Krysmonds hold on me.
"Let me go." I had to try to get away, to go after him.
"You can't go after him Kryselis." Krysmond says wrapping me in his arms. "You are wanted where he is going. If you go... We can't afford to lose you."
I stopped struggling and buried my face into his chest. Tears were falling down my face. We stood there like that until there were no more tears. Krysmond pulls me at arm's length and uses his sleeve to wipe away the trails of the tears.
"What do you say? Want to head over to your room and I'll come explain everything in a little while?" He asks with a small smile. I could see the sadness in his eyes. It warmed my heart a little knowing that he was trying to help. Maybe he wasn't a tin man after all.
I nod and return his smile. We make our way out of the ballroom and continue the rest of the way to my room in silence.
"Thanks." I say and walk into the room as he opens the door. He nods his head, like he always does.
"I'll be back momentarily." He closes the door behind him and heads back to the ball. I stand there for a moment. Not knowing what to do. I look around the room, eyes landing on the vanity that was still covered with makeup.
My robe was hanging over the chair, I grab it and make my way to the bathroom. I set a warm bath and slowly submerged myself into the warmth. The muscles that were tense from the night were slowly starting to loosen up. I lean my head back and close my eyes, thinking of the nights events.
Who was that boy that had me cornered? He wasn't from Lumaera, so he must've been from one of the other kingdoms. He looked so angry. But what could the boy be angry for? We didn't know each other before tonight. He had scared me.
I was glad when Kyrad had come over, but I wasn't expecting him to act how he had either. He was furious. I've never seen him with that much rage before and his eyes... His eyes turned orange, like the Daeths eyes were.
He slung that boy against the wall and knocked him unconscious. Which petrified me. Kyrad knew he had scared me. I could see it in his eyes how sorry he was. I knew he was just trying to protect me. But I couldn't help but to be scared.. I panicked... I didn't know what else to do.
I could feel the dull thud in my chest everytime I thought about Kai. I got out of the bath early to distract myself from thinking about him. I searched the room for some baggy pants and t shirt but didn't come across anything but dresses. Of course.
I don't think Aeryn would have anything either. We probably have similar clothing. The only person I could think of that would have pants and a T-shirt was Kai...but he's not here. Maybe the guard at the end of the hall would know where his room is.
I pull my robe tighter around myself, making sure everything was covered properly. This will be awkward asking a guard where Kai's room is while wearing a robe. Here goes nothing.
I made my way out of the room and down to the end of the hall where a guard was waiting. He bowed his head and looked back up.
"How may I service you my princess?" He asks looking straight ahead. He was still standing at attention. Do they ever take a break?
"Kryselis is fine." I say looking at the guard. His eyes flick over to me for a second then back forward. "Would you show me where Kyrads room is? I would like to retrieve something and I'm not sure where it is."
