Chapter 40

(Alex POV in meadow)

I couldn't take being by Vexy anymore, she's too clingy. I want the Vexy I know and love, the one who wasn't afraid to call me an asshole when I was being one.

Something sweet hits the air and I find myself heading in the direction of it, I really like the smell. I find a red wolf with black stripes in the meadow, just walking around; the smell coming from her. My wolf instinctively starts bearing its teeth.

I start to walk towards her when I step on a fallen stick, it snaps and she whips around. I walk towards her again but she backs up into the tree behind her, I keep walking towards her. The addicting scent is most definitely coming from this lovely little female.

I lay down and look up at her, she cocks her head. I watch her and start whining, wanting to know if she feels it too. I yip and roll onto my side, she walks over and looks at me. I nudge her leg with my paw and feel the tingles again, her eyes let me know she feels them too. She starts backing up again and I quickly get up, shaking the snow off me.

She stops and watches me, I walk over and press my nose to hers. She closes her eyes and I do the same, her cheek presses against mine. I whine from the feeling of her touching me, I have to know who she is.

I change back into my human form and look at her, surprise flashes across her eyes. I watch as she spins on her heel and takes off, not showing me who she is. I growl before changing back into my wolf, I take off after her. She doesn't get far before I catch up and pin her to the ground, she starts whining beneath me.

Running my nose along her fur, I take in her scent. She starts whining more and I look at her, she looks scared. I get off her and she slowly stands up, this time she doesn't take off. We stand there and look at each other, I admire her beautiful eyes. I wish she'd change for me, I want know who she is.

I'm about to change back into my human form when I hear a distant howl, she looks around and then at me. She whines and starts backing up, I watch her leave this time. I see her head in the direction of Knight Pack Territory, I fall to the ground.

'Our mate is from Knight Pack,' my wolf asks surprised.

'Our mate is Vexy. I don't know what she is,' I tell him.

'Well I don't want Vexy. I want her.'

'How can you not want Vexy? She's our mate, our true mate. We love her.'

'You love her, I don't. I want that wolf.'

'So you're just going to dump Vexy on the side for some stranger?'

'That's how it ended with Amy didn't it?'

I shake my head and get up, I run back to my Pack. I can't believe my wolf just wants to get rid of Vexy like she's garbage, she's all he'd talk about.

I run straight up to the house and change back into my human form, I walk into the house. Vexy sits up and looks at me, I walk right into the kitchen. She follows me and stands right in front of me, I sigh.

"What's wrong," Vexy asks me.

"Nothing," I say. She makes me look at her.

"I know something's wrong Alex. Tell me."

"I don't know what's wrong babe."

"Is it something I did sweetie?"

"No. I'm just going to be up in my office."

"Okay. I'll call you down when supper is ready babe."

"Okay." I get up and head to my office, thinking of how Vexy's never liked pet names. She's never once called me babe or sweetie, I didn't get scolded for calling her babe; she's acting very odd and I don't like it.

I spend the rest of my night in my office, sleep calls to me and i just pass out on my couch.

"Alex," a deep voice says. I roll away from the voice, I hear it sigh. "Alex get up."

Something starts shaking my shoulder but I push it away, I hear a sigh again.

"Alex, seriously, get up," another voice says.

"I don't wanna," I say.

"Too bad," the deep voice says. I'm pulled off my couch and I land on the floor, I look up to see Nick and Eleazar.

I get up and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth, Nick looks at me the whole time.

"What do you need," I ask while coming out and putting a new shirt on.

"Eric escaped," Nick says.

"What!? How'd he escape," I ask.

"We don't know. But Vexy is also gone," Eleazar says. "He took my daughter again."

"I've had it with Eric. He only has one place to go," I say.

"Where's that," Nick asks.

"Dark Skies," I tell him. "And we're going to attack."

"We aren't ready for an attack yet. Plus Jameson isn't here yet with his Coven," Eleazar says.

"Do you want your daughter in their hands or do you want to save her," I ask.

"I want to save her," Eleazar says.

"Then we leave when Jameson gets here. They won't expect it."

"Is this going to work," Nick asks.

"We are strong Nick. Now go tell everyone the plan, and could you get me John," I say. Nick nods and leaves, Eleazar still in my office.

"Are you doing this for my daughter or for yourself," Eleazar asks me. I look at him, surprised.

"I'm doing this for Vexy. She's the Luna of this Pack and we both miss her. I would like to know that my Mate is here and not somewhere she can be hurt."

"Do you love her?"

"Of course I love her. What kind of question is that?"

"A serious one. I want to know that my little girl is safe here and that I won't have to worry about her. She's all I have left. First her mom and then her brother, I can't lose Vexy too."

"Vexy had a brother?" I can't believe she never told me about a brother, maybe I should've asked.

"Yes, his name was Robbie. He's Vexy's twin, only minutes older than her."

"What happened to them?"

"Well her mom was caught in a house fire, I was out of town at the time. Robbie and Vexy had made it but their mom got trapped inside." Eleazar clears his throat. "Robbie disappeared after the funeral. I don't know what happened to him."

"I'm so sorry Eleazar. I promise to take care of Vexy."

"I know you will. You've always taken great care of her, even when you guys were younger."

"We knew each other when we were younger?" I don't remember Vexy from when I was younger, I think I'd remember my mate.

"Yes. The two of you were always playing together or you were chasing her around."

"How come I don't remember this?"

"It was after the funeral and you two were walking around in the woods, I saw you two holding hands. You were too young to know about mates so neither of you probably knew why you were so attracted to each other." Eleazar shakes his head. "The two of you stopped at the pond when some Rogues attacked you. You were both hurt really bad, and you had to be taken to a hospital. The doctors said you were in a coma, Vexy stayed at the hospital with you for two months. She wouldn't leave your side, not even for me. You should have seen her face when you woke, she was about to cry because of how happy she was. But you didn't remember her at all, Vexy was heart broken. We kept the two of you separated, until Vexy ran away. But you two have seem to found your way back together."
