Chapter 47

(Vexy POV)

When we got back to Alex's house I couldn't help but smile, I've missed this house. Alex sets me down but doesn't let me go, he starts kissing my mark; but stops and growls.

"I know it smells like Travis," I say. "But what was I suppose to do? I was manipulated into thinking he was my mate."

"Did you two..." He doesn't have to finish, I know exactly what he's about to ask.

"Again, I was manipulated." I turn to Alex. "But maybe you'd like to make me smell like you again."

"Right now? Are you sure Vexy?"

"Well if you don't want to then I'm going to go take a shower."

"Stop teasing me."

"Who says I'm teasing?" I wrap my arms around his neck and he picks me up, wrapping my legs around his waist. "You just think I'm teasing because I said I wanted to mate but then I want to take a shower."

"You can take a shower when we're done. I've missed you so much since you've been gone."

"Well I haven't missed you." Alex growls at me and I smirk, he holds onto me tighter. I feel the door against my back and then we are in our room, it's clean and the bed is made. I look at Alex and he sighs, I am set on the bed; Alex sits next to me. "You okay?"

"I don't know. I just can't believe that John is gone, I'm going to have to set up his funeral and everyone else's who died."

"You won't have to do it alone. Why can't you get this through your head," I climb into his lap and wrap my arms around his neck. "You have me and lots of people who care about you and will help."

"But no one can write my speech for me."

"Again, you have people who will help." I grab Alex's hand and put it against my big stomach. "And now you have a baby on the way."

"I'm excited. But are you sure it's mine?"

"Why wouldn't it be? Travis and I only mated once, and that was this morning."

"Okay. Do you just want to take a shower?"

"Only if you join me."

Alex and I get up and head into the bathroom, everytime I try touching Alex he pushes me away; I give up and just let him have his space. Alex gets ready after we get out of the shower, he hides himself in his office and doesn't come out for the rest of the night.

I lay on the empty bed by myself, looking up at the ceiling. I roll on my side and look at the spot where Alex usually sleeps, I sigh and sit up. I can't seem to get to sleep, and the baby kicking isn't helping. I head for Alex's office and knock, I hear sniffling from the other side.

"Come in," Alex's hoarse voice says. I walk in and lean against the door frame. "What do you need?"

"Are you coming to bed," I ask.

"I'll come to bed in a few minutes."

"Will you come now? I can't get to bed without you."

"Vexy-"

"I know how much it hurts to lose someone you love Alex, so don't shut me out. I can feel your pain and you pushing me away is probably causing you to hurt more." I walk over and grab his hand. "You don't remember but-"

"We knew each other when we were younger. You're father told me about it."

"Oh. Then you should understand that I know how you feel." My hand that isn't holding onto his hand strokes his cheek, Alex leans into my hand. "First it was my mother, then it was Robbie, and to top it all off I lost you, I know exactly how you feel. You can let me in and allow your feelings out."

"But-"

"No buts Alex. You need rest and I'm sure John wouldn't want you to keep crying over him, he'd probably tell you to stop acting like a little girl."

"Okay." Alex kisses my nose and I smile, he lays his forehead against mine. "I'll come to bed."

I pull Alex out of his office and head to our room, hoping that we can both get some sleep. Alex slips out of his shirt and jeans then crawls into bed, I stroke his cheek and watch as his face relaxes. Alex opens his eyes at the same time the baby kicks, he strokes my stomach and lays his face in front of mine.

"I love you Vexy," Alex whispers. I kiss his lips lightly, he smiles a little.

"I love you Alex," I whisper.

Alex and I fall asleep to the familiarity of each other's bodies pressed against each other, our breaths mixing together.
