The group and I stayed at the Tower for a few more days while surveillance was being done on my place. Steve didn't want to stay in the Tower too long in case we caught someone's attention. Now we were back at my place, where all of this had started for me.

"I'm going to install cameras around my property and down the driveway, just so we can know if someone's coming ahead of time." I told everyone as they settled around the living room. "And as for beds..... There's the two upstairs and the couch. You guys can fight over it cause I don't care. Bucky? You're staying with me, right?"

"Yeah." He replied.

"You need help with anything, just let us know." Steve offered. I nodded my head and began to take my things up to my room. Bucky followed behind me quietly, almost silently. I went to the secret room in my closet and pulled out surveillance cameras.

"Want to come with me, sweetheart?" I asked as I came out of the closet and kicked the door shut.

"Yeah."

I didn't actually fall asleep that night. I just stayed in Bucky's arms, listening to his heart beating and his soft breathing. His arms held me tight to his body, one wrapped around my upper shoulders and the other was around my lower back where his hand rested on my waist. His lips pressed against my forehead, just resting there as he slept.

I closed my eyes and honestly tried to sleep but it just wasn't going to work. I settled with tracing shapes and letters into his torso, letting my mind wander for a while. I didn't have a chance to slip away so I couldn't leave the bed.

Then he shifted and let me go with both arms just for a few seconds. I knew he was going to try to grab me again but I couldn't stay in the bed for another minute. I had to go for a walk. I slipped out of bed and out of his arms. I placed a gentle kiss to his forehead before making my way out to the shore of Lake Ontario.

The air was cool and windy, and I found myself wishing I had brought a jacket or something. I was only in a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. The sand felt amazing underneath my feet. I missed this feeling. It had been too long since I took a walk on the beach. I smiled brightly as I looked out over the choppy waves that lapped up at the shore. This was my home and I was ecstatic to be back. Happiness and comfort warmed my insides, and a sense of belonging overcame me. I found my way to the dock and sat at the end of it. The sun wasn't even up yet, but I had all intentions of watching it rise.

"Couldn't sleep, doll?"

I looked over my shoulder to see Bucky coming down the dock, barefoot and in a zip-up and a pair of night pants.

"Not really." I admitted as he took a seat next to me. "I wanted to come out and watch to sun rise."

"You've been out here for a while, though. Almost two hours."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I just wished you would've told me so I could've stayed with you." He seemed hesitant with something, but then I realized what. He reached out and placed his hand on mine. He didn't know if holding my hand was okay. I gave him a reassuring smile and scooted closer to him.

Daybreak was just minutes away. The sky was a beautiful mix of oranges, yellows, and pinks. Bucky slipped his hand under my chin and turned my head to face him. Within the same instant, our lips met and I gasped, totally shocked by the action. Bucky immediately pulled back and moved himself away from me entirely. Many emotions crossed his features, but fear and uneasiness were the two most prominent ones.
