Two Weeks Later
Bucky and I made our way to a little town outside of Bismarck, North Dakota. We were doing good at staying isolated from everyone who either wanted to help too much or wanted to take Bucky. I was currently on my way back to the motel from the drug store, where I had gotten hair-dye and medicine for the headache I had had for a lengthy two days. We had a car but I chose to walk since the store was just a few blocks from the motel.
I casted a glance over my shoulder, knowing very well that there was a couple—man and a woman—following me. They had been for quite some time. Once I was positive they were following me, I pulled my phone out and called Bucky.
"Hey, doll."
"Hey. So I decided I wanted to put some brown in my hair."
"Yeah, I thought we discussed this before you left."
"We did. I just thought I'd run that by you again. Have you talked to Steve today?"
"No. Of course not. Why would you ask?"
"I thought you said you were going to call him." I was hoping he would catch a hint that there was something wrong about this conversation.
"Widia, I'm confused.... Is something wrong?" His voice became low as he spoke.
"There's something stuck to my shoe and I can't shake it off."
There was silence for a few moments.
"Where are you, Widia? I'll come get you."
"You just get out of here." I spoke quietly.
"Widia, don't you dare—,"
I hung up and tucked my phone away.

I continued to walk for a few blocks around town and the couple followed at a distance. I kept my guard up, careful to watch out for any backup they might have called. I had to dispose of the things I had just gotten at the store. I didn't need the extra weight holding me down in case I had to run. My phone rang and I checked the caller. It was Bucky. I tucked my phone away, sighing gently. I didn't want him to try to get me. I looked up and saw a man walking down the sidewalk, towards me. I didn't make eye contact or show any interest in him. As he was passing me, he said something that I didn't catch all the way.
".... her."
I stopped for a split second, which probably wasn't smart on my end. Then I took off in a full sprint down the sidewalk. I crossed the street, narrowly dodging a tractor trailer and a mini-van. Both honked at me and one of the drivers cursed. Casting a quick glance over my shoulder, I saw the couple was now chasing me. When I looked back in the direction I was going, I ran full-force into a heavily built man.
I fell backwards, my head bouncing off the pavement. I saw black spots for a few moments and pain radiated throughout my head. When I could finally see, the couple was catching up and talking to the brick wall of a man I just ran into.
"I haven't seen the Soldier but we can make her call him." The man that had been following me for nearly an hour and a half suggested.
"I'm right here." Bucky spoke. He was standing not too far away on the other side of the three HYDRA agents. They stood between us. While they were distracted with him, I took my chance and kicked the back of the woman's knee and then tried to sweep the brick-built man's legs out from underneath him, but that didn't work.
The man only kicked me in the side. As I curled up into a ball to protect my stomach and internal organs as much as possible, I could hear police sirens wailing in the distance.
