Chapter 2

present day...

- Kennedy's Point of View -

I woke up to the morning sunlight shining through my sheer curtains. I really didn't want to go to school today. I was about to fake being sick, but then i realized that there were cheer try outs today and i had to be there. I swear, being captain sucks sometimes. Besides, even if i tried to stay home, my best friend Tiffani, my co-captain, would drive to my house and yell at me to get my lazy bum up.

I decided to avoid that today, so i sat up and ran my fingers through my bed head, and my hair fell naturally however it wanted. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stretched my arms out. When i stood up, i looked at the time and it was 6:45 . Perfect timing. I walked to my closet and took out my cheer uniform which was a long sleeve shirt and the skirt. Our school colors were red, gold, and technically white also. Our mascot is the Phoenix, i like it personally.

I took my uniform into the bathroom and left it folded on the counter, then i walked back out, and switched into black spandex and a red sports bra. I always run in the morning. I took my phone off the charger, and plugged in my headphones. I put on a fanny pack and put my phone in it, and my headphones in my ears. I grabbed my Nike running shoes and walked downstairs and sat on the stairs and began to put on my shoes. After i did so, i walked to my body guards room, and knocked.

"Hey. Open up. I'm going for a run, are you gonna watch me like you always do?" I groaned and opened the door, "get up!"

Marcus woke and turned over, sitting up and rubbing his eyes, "alright alright..."

He got up and started to get ready, and i left the room.

I hate having a body guard. I can take care of myself! I'm not a baby! I'm 18!

Five minutes later, Marcus came downstairs and grabbed his keys. When i go on my jogs, he follows me in his car. From other people, it looks really sketchy. Whatever.

Finally, i walked out the door and started to run, with Marcus following behind.

It was a good thing i was running today too because i really need to set an example of what a Central Los Angeles High School varsity cheerleader should be.

As i was running i looked up at the sky to see that there were dark clouds off in the distance. They seemed to be moving away, but you can never be sure. Hey, try outs could be canceled today!

I started to think about my past body guards. They were all huge meatheads. I hated them all. I've had 12 body guards since Nikolai kidnapped me the first time. None of them were interesting, or funny or caring. No. Emotional robots... All of them.

I understand that my father wants me safe, but honestly, giving me body guards is only challenging Nikolai to kidnap me again.

When i finished my run, i walked inside the house and went upstairs. I was satisfied with my run judging by the amount of sweat. It was sort of nasty but hey, gotta be healthy.

I took off my clothes and put them in the dirty clothes basket behind my door and then walked into the bathroom. I opened the sliding glass door to the shower and turned both the shower heads on.

When i say both, i mean when i stand facing one shower head, i theres another behind me.

Anyways, i took my hair out of the ponytail and then stepped in the shower. The warm water felt amazing against my sore legs. I put soap on my luffa and started to wash my body. Then i put my Paul Mitchell shampoo in my hair and rubbed it into my scalp, making sure to get all my hair. When i felt like it was clean, i rinsed it out. I poured some of the conditioner into my hand and started at my tips and worked my way up to my scalp. The feeling of conditioner on my head for some reason was always relaxing. I turned the water to a tolerable warm/cold temperature, and rinsed it out.
