Laney's Point Of View;
After a lot of thinking and later regretting, I decided to go spend the night at my mom's house. It was obviously for one reason, I was scared to stay alone in Justin's apartment. I had Cara with me and she was being grumpy, she kept fussing and crying until I started walking and that's when she calmed down. I knew my mom didn't have any crib for Cara to sleep in but I would sacrifice my sleep for her safety. I decided I would let her sleep on my bed back at my mom's house and watch her so she wouldn't fall off the bed.
When I arrived at my moms house, her boyfriend thankfully wasn't home, he was on a business trip to Australia. My mom had the biggest grin on her face as she welcomed me inside the house.
"She is so adorable!" My mom chirped, taking Cara carefully in her arms. "Oh my gosh! Can you tell her daddy that I'm going to borrow her for a few months? She's so cute Laney." She exclaimed with a loud voice, causing Cara to wake up startled from her sleep. She began crying and I rolled my eyes at my mom's hyper-ness.
"She is being grumpy today." I stated to my mom, entering the kitchen to fetch myself a cup of hot chocolate. "I'm so tired, can you watch her while I take a nap?" I asked with pleading eyes, hoping she would say yes. My mom always loved babies, I was starting to think that she's going to kidnap Cara.
"Yeah honey," She said with a caring tone.
"Wake me in two hours okay?" I pleaded, fluttering my eyelids.
I was awaken later by the cries of Cara, I jumped startled out of bed and found out it was eight in the morning. Eight! I told my mom to wake me up after two hours not five. I paced to my moms room to see her cradling Cara whilst she sobbed.
Typical mom.
"Mom, why didn't you wake me?" Angrily, I stammered, taking Cara from her.
"You looked tired," She spoke with a tired tone, she was probably up all night catering to Cara. "Honey, your phone rang an hour ago and I answered. Justin wanted to know if you're going back to the apartment or not because he went home." My mom explained, she probably kept talking to him for hours until he hung up on her or something. "He's such a well mannered boy, you should invite him here for dinner." my mom blabbered, doing the laundry.
"I will, bye." I waved my hands and grabbed all my stuff then walked out of the front door.
I couldn't be happier that Justin was finally home, I consider him a friend and he means so much to me now. He was a little rude, but just a little, he even stopped being rude to me and that means that he will change everything fast as well. I made it to the apartment and Cara started giggling for no reason when I opened the door.
The first thing that caught my attention was the huge black garbage bag that was in the middle of the living room. What the heck was that, I kept wondering until I heard Justin yelling. His voice was coming from the bathroom so I walked to the door.
“It's me.” I stated, hearing him mumble a 'mhm' then an 'okay'. “Justin can you come out fast?” I asked while a smile was creeping on my face, I was so excited to see his reaction.
“I'm taking a shower.” He shouted from inside, causing me to giggle. “Is it important?”
“Yes!” I insisted, banging on his door.
I heard him move inside and the shower turned off. His footsteps approached and he pulled the door open to reveal him in a towel, beads of water falling all over his body. If Cara wasn't in my arms, I would have literally drooled at how good he looked. I felt my cheeks highlight with a dark shade of red, I could feel myself getting dizzy.
Justin was in shock too, not because of me of course, he was in shock because of Cara. His mouth was in the shape of an 'O' as he stared at his baby girl.
“Did you kill Danny?” He joked, a grin cracked on his face.
“Nope.” I shook my head, bouncing Cara up and down.
“Oh darn.” Justin half smiled, walking back inside the bathroom. He stepped out two minutes later, now fully dressed in sweats, and immediately took Cara from my arms.
“Hi little friend.” He held her at his arms' length, pure happiness on his face. “I missed ya, buddy.” He placed a soft kiss on her forehead and blushed hard when he saw me staring at him. I always found guys with babies adorable––not to mention attractive––and Justin made me feel like he's really changing.
“Has she eaten anything yet?” He asked before placing her on the soft carpet on the floor. When I shook my head, a little frown appeared on his face and he shrugged. “I'm out of baby milk.”
“Justin she has teeth, stop feeding her milk.” I reminded, Cara was teething and she has about 4 teeth in her mouth. “I can call my mom and ask her for a recipe, I think you can make her Purée.”
“I will run to the grocery store to get her milk.” He shook his head, shrugging off the idea of feeding her solids.
I dropped myself on the floor and laid on my stomach behind Cara. I held her tiny hands from behind her and started speaking in a high pitched voice, pretending to be her speaking.
“No milk!” I giggled, trying to act funny. “Can you resist my puppy face daddy?” I gently squeezed Cara's chubby cheeks, making her lips pout.
“Laney––”
“I'm not Laney,” I protested, holding Cara's arm up. “You named me Cara, remember me? I’m your daughter.”
“Fine.” Justin gave in, dropping himself on the couch. “And since you insist Cara, why don't you let the lovely lady behind you prepare you your breakfast because I just got out of the hospital?”
“You did not just use the hospital card.” I got up on my feet, giving him Cara back. “And lovely lady?”
“Leave me alone I feel like crap.” He arched his back, holding Cara onto his chest.
My eyes settled on the garbage bag, then darted back to Justin. “What's this?” I pointed to it, Justin smirked and shrugged his shoulders. “Is it garbage?”
“I don't know...” An evil smirk was present on his face, scaring me about that garbage bag. “See for yourself.”
I hesitantly walked over the garbage bag and opened it. I found a lot of newspapers inside but I could see something underneath. I started removing the newspapers until the last one, and inside there was a bouquet of flower.
“Justin!” I squealed, the lovely smell of the flowers filled my nose trills. “Awh, thank you, they look beautiful.” I complimented, my eyes fixed on the white and red bouquet. It was beautiful and I wondered if he chose it himself.
“There is more inside.”
Gasping, I stuffed my head inside the bag to find a huge sized box. I probably looked like a little kid on Christmas but no one has ever surprised me like that. I took the box out and ripped the wrappers, causing Justin to laugh loudly. When I opened it, a fancy box of chocolate laid on top.
I rolled my eyes instantly. “You're going to make me fat with all that chocolate.” I joked, placing it aside. Inside there were a few other stuff, including perfumes and what surprised me, stuff from Victoria Secret. It wasn't lingerie or anything, there were a few PINK stuff which I've always wanted to get. My eyes watered with tears of happiness as I stared at everything, I was getting so emotional.
“Laney, don't cry.” I heard Justin's soft voice, I hid my face in my hands. “You've done a lot for me, you deserve it.” I felt his hand brush against my back to soothe me. “Group hug?” He opened one arm while he was still holding Cara in his other. He embraced me in a bone crushing hug, repeating 'thank you' in my ear.
