Laney's Point Of View;
After a whole week of Justin being completely sober, he woke up today and decided to get his ass drunk. He was in a good mood to say the least and since Cara was asleep, he wasn't really worried about her or anything. I also had a glass of his fancy wine, and it would be safe to say that I was a little tipsy. I enjoyed a drink once in a while, and since it was around 7 in the morning, I felt so much better since I’m not a morning person. Justin on the other hand started hiccuping and it wouldn't go away. We were both stupidly giggling at his loud hiccups.
“Y––You rarely talk to me about your life, Laney.” Justin hiccuped mid sentence, his fingers scratching his temples occasionally. “I'm starting to think that you're hiding something from me.”
A gasp emitted instantly from my lips; hiding? “You're weird.” Justin Unconsciously parting the lips, his face turned hard stone. “I'm always honest with you though, like why would I hide anything from you?”
“I don't know...” His left brow raised as he stared at me, I broke the eye contact and shrugged. “You know since we're both drunk, we should play a game.” He suggested excitably, his lips displaying a wide grin. “Have you ever tried playing 'Never Have I Ever'?”
I nodded my head, giving him a crazy expression. “I'm not going to drink anymore.”
“Oh.” His face fell down in disappointment. “No––Wait! I've played it another way with my friends, instead of drinking, you take a piece of clothing off.”
I felt my face redden at the thought of having to take a piece of clothing off playing this game. I wasn't as confident as Justin––it even seemed like he never suffered from the lack of confidence like me. Then I realized; Justin would probably lose first. He had experience in basically everything while I was completely inexperienced and a little bit innocent.
My eyes watched him as he sat on the floor Indian style and waited for me. I plopped down on the carpeted floor across from him and waited for him to start the game.
“Actually, this is hard.” He stated with a scrunched face. “Uhm, never have I ever picked up a dog poop.”
I let out a snort and stuck my tongue at him. “You're real evil.” I commented, taking my hair tie off and placing it in front of me. “Never have I ever had to wear makeup to hide a hickey.”
Justin's lips twitched, his eyes giving me a dead glare. “Fair enough.” He pulled his shirt over his head and threw it in front of me. “Never have I ever cried in front of my mom.”
I was wearing a hoodie and a tank top underneath so I had no problem in taking the hoodie off. It sort of made me curious that he said that, who wouldn't cry in front of their mother? I ignored all the weird thoughts that were swimming inside my head.
“Never have I ever gone skinny dipping.” After finishing my sentence, I received a snicker from him.
“I've never felt more free when I went skinny dipping.” He let out a sigh of satisfaction after he had a flashback for 5 seconds. He slid off a ring that I've always seen him wearing it.
“Never have I ever––” Justin was interrupted by the strumming of a guitar––Justin's ring tone––and he quickly went over to his phone so he wouldn't wake Cara up. I saw him look puzzled for a second, an unreadable expression plastered on his face.
“Who?” Out of curiosity, I asked.
“Shit.” He cursed again, hesitating to take the phone call. “It's Danny.”
“Mute your phone, Cara's going to wake up.” I suggested, annoyed by his phone's continuous ringing. It didn't seem like he was going to answer but to my shock, he did.
“Hey D––Danny.” Justin stammered in a low tone, throwing himself back on the couch. “Yeah I’m fine.” I heard him say, his voice was barely audible and I was starting to think that he didn't want me to hear their conversation. I pretended to play with my phone whilst I listened to his shy response to Danny.
It seemed––and looked––like he was the complete opposite of what he is most of the time when he's with Danny. He had a soft spot for her and it made my heart swell, everyone could see that she didn't treat him good. My muscles tightened whenever I thought about their relationship, I sometimes envied the fact that she had him wrapped around his fingers.
“I will pick you up around 8, is that alright with you?” He asked softly, causing me to focus on him again after I was lost in my daydream. “Okay, bye Danny.”
A grimace spread on his flushed face after he dropped the phone next to him. “Fuck yes.” I heard him whisper to himself.
“What's up?”
Startled, his eyes flicked to me. “Oh, Danny wanted to have dinner with me today because she wanted to talk.”
My eyebrows gathered in, confused about the reason he was so happy about having a dinner with Danny. “But like, why?” I blurted out curiously.
“Maybe she wants to take me back? We didn't have a legit breakup, she only told me that she wanted a break.” He cleared his throat. “It would be thoughtful of her if she took me back. I mean, wouldn't that be better for Cara?” He cocked his head to the side, asking for my opinion.
I had to fight the desire to vent and yell at him for his stupid thinking. He was literally stupid and dumbfounded. And if she was really going to change and take him back, I would have to search for another place to live and never be around Justin again. Deep inside, I hoped that she wouldn't take him back and I might seem selfish, but it was for his own good too.
“Laney?” He paused, noticing that I zooned out. “I need to sober quickly to get ready. Mind if you look after Cara until I come back home?”
As always, I replied: “Yeah sure.” And walked to my bedroom, the feeling of sadness rushing through my body.
To my luck, Justin spread out all of his fancy clothes and told me to pick something for his 'date' while he took a shower. I appreciated that he was trying to not let me feel lonely, he even asked if I was craving anything because he wanted to have a late dinner with me after his date. No matter what he would offer to do, I was still hurt.
