Laney's Point Of View;
My deep slumber was interrupted by someone who continuously shook my shoulders, trying to wake me up. I was ready to hit whoever that person was, and the desire to hit grew even more when I smelled Justin's perfume. This wasn't the first time him waking me up at midnight; he would do it whenever he's working on his laptop and Cara doesn't stop crying.
“Go away Justin.” I mumbled sleepily, pulling the sheets over my face.
I heard him exhale loudly. “Please, do me a favor?” He asked in a quick, hushed voice. “I will clean the house later if you do me this tiny favor.”
My eyes widened at the opportunity of him cleaning the house. I stopped cleaning the living room and tiding it up because Justin is the messiest person. He would come home and throw everything everywhere and never cleans anything.
“What do you want me to do?” Yawing, I asked while sitting in an upright position.
“Babysit Cara? I know it's midnight and she's asleep, she won't wake up now but can you take care of her while I go?” He breathed deeply after his non-stop talking. “Pleaseee?”
“Fine.” I agreed, throwing my legs to the side of the bed. “Where are you going though?” I asked.
“Uhm, the club?” He stammered.
“Is that a question or a statement?”
Justin scratched the back of his head, clearing his throat. “Bye Laney.” He said, causing me to roll my eyes.
Just the word 'club' made my stomach turn. I knew it would end with a disaster anyways, I can predict whatever Justin will do after only living with him for a few weeks. And all my predictions were true, and I realized that when I heard continuous banging on the door at 3AM. Luckily, Cara wasn't awake and I hoped she wouldn't wake up.
I unlocked the door and my eyes widened then closed quickly after the sight I had just seen. Justin had his lips locked with a red head who was barely wearing anything. His hand was on her ass and her hands were in Justin's hair. They were making out lustily, I couldn't help but cringe.
“Justin, go have sex somewhere else please?” I asked in the nicest tone I could muster, my blood was boiling inside my veins. I received a scoff from him as he side-eyed me. The dude had absolutely no respect.
“Fuck me hard baby.” The girl purred in his ear, I curled my hand into a fist, I was ready to hit someone, really this time.
“No one will do anything here, get the heck out Justin.” I sneered, giving him his last warning.
“Cock block.” Justin muttered, sending me a death glare.
That was basically the last straw, I pushed the girl away from him and kneed him in the crotch. The girl screamed and Justin doubled over in pain, cursing me.
“Get out now!” I screamed at the girl, pushing her out of the door. “Bitch.” I spat, watching her as she ran outside the apartment. At the moment, I loathed Justin with every fiber of my being. I regretted every defending him; he wasn't actually changing his attitude or his life in general. He still drinks, a lot, and the kitchen is full with a million kind of wine and whiskey.
“Laney?” He whispered from the ground. “Cara's crying.” He pointed to her door.
I strode to Cara's nursery and found her crying. The minute she noticed me, she stopped crying and looked innocently at me.
“Hi baby.” I coed, taking her into my arms. “You hungry?” I stepped out of the nursery with her in my arms. My eyes wandered to Justin who didn't move from the floor.
“Do you hate me?” I heard him croak from the floor but I ignored his question. I grabbed the bottle of milk for Cara and began feeding her. Cara wasn't my daughter and yet, I was more useful than Justin.
I sat down with my legs on the coffee table, feeding Cara from the bottle. I heard Justin standing up and he started walking my way. Still ignoring him, I looked away.
“I'm tipsy, not drunk.” He informed, wanting to take Cara from my hands. I let him hold her and gave him her bottle. “I can sober up?”
“Do whatever you want.” I sneered angrily. “It's not like anybody can stop you.”
I heard him sigh. “Should I start cleaning the house now?”
A smile that I fought not to show appeared on my lips. “Yep.” I replied.
