Laney's Point Of View;

Never in my entire life I've seen a person who would hate to have an extremely, adorable baby like Cara. I knew having a baby is exhausting but it's an experience I would love to go through later. It was the first day of Justin pretending that he didn't have a baby and to my surprise, he's really pretending. It was actually funny because he slept last night at 10 PM on the sofa as usual and now it's 1 PM and I was getting ready to go shopping with Cara, and he's still asleep. I didn't know whether he was a heavy sleeper or he's just resting.

In the morning, Cara woke up at 7 and I found that she had a dirty diaper. I changed her onto some clean ones and opened her little princess wardrobe to find it filled with only a few things. I chose a cute red dress and found a matching headband for her to wear. I fed her the milk, wondering why isn't she eating food yet. Not solids but formula and baby food.

I wrote a note for Justin that I would take Cara with me to the grocery store across the street and left it on his sleeping body. I grabbed my purse and headed for the front door. I obviously went without the car because it was near but I soon regretted it because I won't be able to hold the bags with Cara in my arms.

The moment I reached the store, I instantly went to the baby section. I always had a thing for checking out baby clothes and toys–before I even moved in with Justin–and it became an obsession and now, I will be able to buy some stuff and actually make a baby wear them. I found a cart and sat Cara down in it.

“That is so cute.” I told Cara once I reached the clothing racks. I held a cute sky blue dress with gray flowers on it. Cara made a cute noise, stuffing her mouth with her hand. I pinched her chubby cheek, making her giggle and reach her arms for me.

“Do you think Justin will mind buying you this?” I questioned, I didn't want to get on his nerves for getting something for her without his permission. “I think I will get you this.” I announced, putting the dress in the cart.

I went to the frozen sections to get bacon because I couldn't live without eating bacon in the morning. Then I got fresh chicken breasts. I only knew how to grill chicken to put in salad and how to make spaghetti with tomato sauce. I got ingredients for these both dishes then went to another aisle to get a tooth brush and a new tooth paste.

I spent another hour in the store, buying all the stuff I needed and even bought sweet potatoes to try to make food for Cara. I had to babysit one of my cousins a few years ago and her mom taught me how to make food for her baby.

The movement of the cart relaxed Cara and she fell asleep to take a nap. I had to hold her while pushing the cart because she wouldn't be comfortable if she sat in the cart. After I paid, I started to realize that I’m going to have to take Cara back home then come back to get the bags. I told the cashier lady to keep the stuff and I would be back in 10 minutes.

I crossed the street with Cara sleeping in my arms and went to Justin's apartment. I then realized I didn't have the keys so I had to knock on the door. I kept knocking for straight 5 minutes–waking Cara in the process–until Justin finally opened the door with an annoyed expression on his face.

“You woke me up.” He said lazily, rubbing his the sleep out of his eyes. He walked back to the sofa and plopped on it.

“I bought some groceries and I can't hold Cara and the bags so can you keep her with you while I go get them?” I asked with the nicest voice I could muster.

Justin smirked. “I do not know anyone with the name Cara.” See? He's literally pretending that he doesn't have a child. That was mean of him to say, to erase that smirk off his face.

“Can you stop being a child for 5 minutes?” I snapped, walking over him to force him to keep Cara occupied while I get the bags. He was so chill and it made my blood boil. He was laying on his back so I lowered Cara to his chest and placed her.

“I won't touch her, that was the deal.” He said, sounding serious. “Put her in the crib Laney.”

The fact that a smirk was still existent on his damn face angered me even more. I knew that the deal was keeping Cara with me for the whole week but I have to get the bags. I held Cara again and decided to put her on the blanket because she seemed to enjoy that. I placed her down and snatched a little toy that was on the sofa and gave it to her.

Placing a kiss on her forehead, I brushed her hair back. “I will be back in 5, okay baby?”

I kept the apartment door open and literally ran to the store. I grabbed all the bags in both of my arms and climbed the stairs to the apartment. The door was still open so I just went in straight to the kitchen. I placed the bags on the counter and took the one that had Cara's stuff.

“Justin, I got––” My eyes laid on Justin who was on the blanket next to Cara, he was laying with his arms sprawled out and Cara was hanging out in between his arms, which made me giggle silently. So he cares.

“I'm back.” I announced, wondering how long will him being good to Cara will last.

“No Sherlock.” He replied, his eyes closed.

“I, uhm, got some stuff for Cara. I thought this dress would look cute on her.” I placed the bag next to him on the floor. “I also got her baby food, why don't you feed her that?”

Pushing Cara off him, he sat with his legs crossed on the floor and stared at the bag. He took the dress out making me think that he's checking it but instead, he was checking the price tag.

“Return it.” He said stubbornly, placing it back in the bag.

I shook my head. “I paid for it, it's alright with me––”

“I said return it. You don't get to buy stuff for my daughter because you just can afford buying anything.” He spat, his eyes turning a darker shade. “You're not going to spoil my daughter, mind you.”

I got a little heart broken. “Justin it's not the end of the world. I just wanted to get her that.” I reasoned, he looked up at me.

“You know what.” He licked his lips, pushing the bag on the floor and standing up. “Do whatever the fuck you want, I’m done trying to be better, I’m done even trying. It's funny because I don't blame her for hating me, who would want to have a fucked up person for a dad, huh?” He said bitterly, walking to the kitchen. He brought his walled and I watched as he fished a 50 dollar bill out of it and threw it in my face.

He seriously had personal issues, I didn't do anything wrong.
