Ruins of Friendship
To- Friend/friends
I pay a visit, a cheap one,
To the ruins of friendship
I fare my fingers and grope every corner,
Find vessels of memories- good and bad,
All those betrayers,
All those traitors
And all those buddies I had
The star in the shadows in the cricket pitches,
The football goalie stood alone,
Keeper of goals, without any,
A silent boy with a face of stone
I find a list, a dirty one,
Of all the nicknames we had,
For each other, for the teachers, for almost everyone- lass or lad
I find our faces as we stood outside the principal's room, and those smirking faces after his scolding!
I find all the expertise of whispering and sign language as the clocks ticked in the exam halls
I also find crumbled papers, weapons of war, messenger of love, missiles to land on unsuspecting heads!
So few words I had, even lesser expressions, I'm surprised I had friends! But now I speak sweet with my past bullies, as friendships fade and friends scatter
I leave, a lonely one,
From the ruins of friendship!
~Ajay
A/N- after the tenth standard, all my friends scatter to different places, written on that
