The day stretches on as they unpack every single box that rests in the living room. Decorations, kitchen utensils, bathroom necessities, shelves, coasters, etc, are tossed around here and there while the family works together to tidy up the house. They finish emptying the boxes by midnight, and when they do, Elizabeth is awed by the way the new house looks.
The living room has black-leathered couches, one in front of the stairs, one to the right, and one to the left. In the center of the three, a black coffee table stands with coasters atop it. Across from the leather furniture, a flat screen TV is plugged into the wall, with speakers, a DVD player, and a PS4, among other things.
The kitchen is now equipped with pans, pots, plates, etc, and shines beautifully in the fluorescent lights that hang above it. Along the kitchen's tiled wall and on the glistening counter, a Candle Warmer is plugged in, with a vanilla fragrance wafting from it. The dining room is filled with a wooden table sized for six, chairs, and nice family pictures hung along the walls, presenting wonderful memories.
On the right side of the house, the wall dividing the living room from the garage is suited with wooden shelves, holding decorations, pictures, and memories. That wall also stretches to a little hallway, which Elizabeth can't spot from the front door. The hallway has two door frames in it, one on the left and one on the right. The one on the left leads to a large bathroom, and the one on the right holds glass doors and shows the large, warm view of the backyard.
"We should make a list of things we need to get for the new house." Elizabeth's father informs the family from where he stands in the kitchen, making pizzas.
Elizabeth and her brothers are seated on the couches, and their mom is upstairs, showering. Sam, glaring at their father with his hazel eyes, says, "Dad, can't we do that tomorrow? It's already midnight."
"It is?" Their father flashes a look of dumbfound surprise. He glances at his watch. "Wow. It is. I guess we can hold off on that until tomorrow."
"Yes!" Sam cheers, hopping up from his seat. He jogs over to the TV, pulls out three PS4 controllers from a shelf under the flatscreen, and then plops himself on the couch beside Hanes after handing them their controllers. "Let's play some Call of Duty before we go to bed."
Elizabeth glances at the controller in her hand and replies. "I don't know if I want to play... I have two chapters left in the book I am reading."
"Oh, come on! Remember what happened when we played last time?" Sam argues, his hazel eyes wide.
Elizabeth shrugs her shoulders, and Sam's thick eyebrows raise. "You beat me last time! I will not stand for that. I need my revenge."
"Correction: she beat both of us." Hanes adds with a proud smirk.
"Okay, fine. You set the game up." Elizabeth explains. "I'm gonna change into my pajamas real quick."
She rushes up the stairs, her feet slapping the staircase, until she reaches the top step. When she does, she freezes. In her ears, the sounds of conversation float from her room. Two girls' voices, and she knows who.
She glides into her room, her blue eyes resting on Tess and Ruth, who both wear cute leggings and crop tops. Ruth's dark red hair is pulled loosely in a beautiful French braid. A few strands cup her freckled face, and her piercing blue eyes gaze at Elizabeth through her thick eyelashes. Tess, on the other hand, has her blonde hair in waves past her shoulders. Her dark gray eyes are stormy, mixed with darker specks.
