***ELIZABETH'S P.O.V***

"Mr. Gaz said that there were supposed to be fireworks going off tonight somewhere nearby." Ruth tells Elizabeth as Elizabeth changes into a tight-fitting, but very comfortably and very warm gray sweater. "He said something about them going off in memory for some big business owner around here. I'm guessing he's inferring that the fireworks will be big. We should watch them."

"Well, I'm going to the roof anyways to meet up with Jay. He wants to apologize to me." Elizabeth informs Ruth, shaking her head. Her brown hair sways from side to side, scraping her shoulders. When Ruth sends her a quizzical look where her thin eyebrows are pulled tight and her blue eyes are squinted, Elizabeth says, "Jay said he feels like crap. Apparently, he wants to make up for all his mistakes."

Ruth's eyebrows narrow, but the ends of her eyes crinkle. "What does that even mean?"

"I have no clue." Elizabeth gently laughs. "I can text you whenever he's done apologizing or whatever he's gonna do. You can bring everyone then. I'm sure it'll have a clear view of the fireworks."

"Alright." Ruth sits upright on the bed, excitement flooding her blue eyes. "That sounds great."

"Mhm." Elizabeth nods, slipping on her favorite pair of boots. "See yah then."

Ruth gives her a quick wave goodbye, just as Elizabeth walks out of the hotel room and shuts the door behind her. There are a few teenagers in the hallway when she steps out, and when she spots Pete's face, her lips tighten and her strides widen.

Pete is beside his friend, leaned up against one wall in the hallway. He has that I-don't-care aura around him when he spies Elizabeth walking on the red carpeting, but Elizabeth just tosses it back. Pete has to be the last person on Earth that Elizabeth cares about right at this particular moment in time. He beat up Finn twice for a girl who hasn't even given Pete a spark of interest, as far as Elizabeth knows. He has no reason to pick on Finn. Poor guy.

Elizabeth would love to avoid Pete and his idiocy. Too bad he's resting right in front of the elevators with a smirk and his eyes glued to her. He says, "Hey."

"Don't talk to me, please." Elizabeth says, attempting to hold back all her anger as she presses the button for the elevator.

Pete flinches back, but then shifts his weight and combs a hand through his white/blonde hair that is wild atop his head. "Why the hell do I deserve that?"

"Because you beat up Finn." Elizabeth hefts her chin up and meets his angry gaze evenly. "Finn is probably one of the best guys in the world, and you punched him in the face. You're a cynical, self-deluded bully in my opinion."

The elevator doors open wide and Elizabeth hurriedly steps aboard. Quickly selecting the top floor, she watches as Pete rises to his full height and looks her up and down. "You bitch."

"Call me whatever you want, but I believe in an old saying. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Elizabeth growls at him, crossing her arms over her chest.

"First of all, that's a sixth grade saying. Second of all, I don't have sticks, but I have spit." He moves his mouth and separates his lips and suddenly, spit is flying at Elizabeth. A big glob of it lands right on her shoe and when she looks up from it she stares into the sly smile of the most arrogant and disrespectful boy she has ever met.
